Tough...

Goodson’s assignment as a true freshman was essentially a one-year internship as Pargo’s backup but his impact was considerable, and not just because he made one of the most memorable shots – a last second running, 8-foot banker that lifted Gonzaga to an 83-81 NCAA tourney win over Western Kentucky last March – in school history.
“He never gave Jeremy an inch,” head coach Mark Few said. “There were long stretches in practice where Jeremy struggled against him, and to his credit, Meech kept bringing it every day in practice. That’s what made our practices so good, that type of competitiveness.”
Tennessee’s Chism, a 6-9, 242-pound senior center, found that out at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando. Prior to the championship game, Goodson said three Volunteers purposely bumped into him as they ran out on the floor. Words were exchanged, and there was another heated exchange between Goodson and Chism as the teams left the floor at halftime. Teammates separated the two.
“That’s the football mentality in me,” Goodson said.

Absolutely loving this kid, exactly what we need this year. I remember that UT game and loved his passion then - not trash talking or whining, just not backing down and showing his toughness ... big, big difference. He's going to be a great one.

One of my favorite pics of Meech, from that Tennessee game, blocking a shot by Tyler Smith ...

I absolutely love what he brings. Our version of Ty Lawson if he can develop the jump shot like Lawson did during his tenure at UNC.

I remember that little incident going off the court in the first half of that Old Spice Classic Championship and had to go back and look at it on Segment #4 of Paulktran's nine-part upload (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p9bph95WbU) of that Old-spice championship game on Youtube. It's at the end of that segment.

Screen shot, Josh trying to keep the peace, and I think Jeremy too, but Micah looking like he might like to pick up where Meech left off. Meech, meanwhile, had already been smuggled off to where he wasn't going to be able to take a poke at any one.

He needs to improve his game....if you just extrap his last season numbers from 13 minutes to say 20 minutes ??? Not very impressive....he may be pushed to get his minutes this year...as someone said before, I love the way he speeds the ball up court....

I was there, saw it live with UABzag and Mrs. UABzag; btw, I've got some decent pics of the tourney that I still have to post.

He's alright. ;)

Saved me $50 on a bet with a SCU Fronco buddy of mine who didn't think GU would get out of the first weekend again.

I remember him in the Alcorn game, not backing down an inch from their "tough guy twice Meech's size. Meech was actually the aggressor. I kind of think he likes to figh.

Apples and oranges. Last year there were six guys on the team that could score 20 a game and as a freshmen backing up a senior he wasn't asked to do much.

This year he is the man to run the point and he will be asked to do much more... and he will.

I love me some MB and SG, but Meech...

A while back there was a post on who was the player with "IT", ala DDD, Ammo, etc.

All I gotta say is that Meech has got the fire and you can have "IT" without the fire.

that have been here in the last ten years, the bar is pretty high....It would be difficult to identify a program (UCLA ?) that could match the size and skill of the tandems that have been a given here...I'm not saying he can't get there.... just that he will need to show some pretty dramatic improvement especially in his shooting %'s to match them....and for that matter, so does Steven...

Makes me wonder about the battles Meech and GJ are having. Must be fun to watch.
