So what is the deal here? The mens individual player clips on the McCarthey screen showed each of them with nasty, unfriendly scowls. You would think they would want to show the fans some friendliness. Its not like they are going to have opponents look up there and be frightened. Went to a womens game tonight and some of the same thing, except Frieson and Bekkering could not keep from laughing when they tried to look angry in theirs.

I think Micah cracked up in his individual player video last year after trying to scowl.

Is this like models on a runway who always look like they are pissed off rather than smile?

Is there some kind of inside joke here they are trying to pull?

This is pure testosterone competition. However silly it is, looking angry, tough or mean is more intimidating than a big happy smile that looks like you are about to break out into Kum ba Yah around the campfire.

Its good preparation for the NBA. Practice the snarl, get tattoos and plan your first on court fight with some bench player like Carlos Delfino,. Thats how you gain respect. :lmao:

Why do Zags scowl on video screen?
Because they're Bulldogs.

Is this years scowl video up on the internet at all?

I know last year's is on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOyd5AyTJkM&feature=player_embedded). It never fails to get me pumped up.

I could go on about the historical corollaries of "athletes as warriors" bit, but I have to say, I'd rather the players try a little to hard to look bad*ss than have it turn out like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaHLlGtOZbg)

That being said, I'm glad the guys aren't posing for GoodFellas photos.

I must say I loved Pargo's stare down on the video screen last year! :)

He looked positively vicious!

The Zags should do a haka dance before their games.
