I thought this had already happened, but evidently GU is on the verge of passing SU as Washington's largest Catholic educational institution. SU had a really small freshman class this year while GU is bursting at the seams:

Interesting "comments" section to that article.

It looks like the termination of the former Dir of Admissions might also signal a change in overall direction for recruitment, too. As one comment noted, there wasn't a drop in the number of applications or overall acceptances, it was a fall-off in the yield. And it translates to about a $700,000 tuition revenue shortfall.

If that is indeed true... then there would be a case for the removal. However, if you are targeting low income students, this economy is going to push yields down.

Having attended both SU and Gonzaga in the last 10 years (I received a BA from SU in 2002 and a MA from Gonzaga in 2005) I can honestly say that with regard to academics the two schools are not in the same league. Seattle U students were superior in almost every regard. They were better readers, writers, analysts and thinkers. They were more intellectually curious, and they had an unparalleled dedication to serving their neighbors. GU kids were way better at beer bongs. So, you know, everybody has their priorities.

Awesome. I just got neg repped for pointing out an idiotic comment on the above-referenced article.

If it's in quote boxes, it's probably not my statement.
