It appears from this article that former GU power forward/novelist Bakari Hendrix will be continuing his career in New Zealand.

Thanks Angelo. Bakari was a real Zag warrior.

I can't speak about the previous posts regarding New Zealand, but it seems Bakari has been playing (well) this past Spring and Summer in the Bay Area:

"The Oakland entry [in] the San Francisco Bay Area Men's Pro-Am Basketball League [is a] team known as the Oakland Believers [. They] always featured a roster made up of raw talent found in local gyms rather than the blue-chip high school and college talent often featured on other teams in the league.

As a result, the Believers have never reached the championship series in the Pro-Am. That will all change Monday night when the team, now known simply as Oakland and coached by former Oakland Tech and College of Alameda alum Al Brown, takes on S.F. City in the best-of-three title series.

Oakland made Believers of everybody in the league this summer by finishing first in the regular season and entering the playoffs as the top seed.

Brown is a Belford protege, using the same coaching principles as his mentor.

"We started in late March with the chemistry, knowing that we had something," said Brown. "All we had to do was follow through on a vision that Belford always thought his teams had."

... The Believers feature International Basketball League guard Mo Brown, the Pro-Am MVP who leads the league in rebounding and steals and was also among the leaders in scoring and assists. Joining him is Gonzaga alum Bakari Hendrix, another top scorer in the league.
