I wholeheartedly understand the AD's intent in playing these type of teams, especially considering our tremendously tough road & OOC schedule, yet this is still -- whats the word --LAME.

The game is Nov 20th. This team is going to need some warm-up games. IPFW is a good as anyone, I suppose.

At least IPFW (222) is better than Texas Southern (326) according to Pomeroy's (http://kenpom.com/rate.php) end of the year rankings. Not as good as Idaho at 164, but they are all in the same ballpark I guess...

Simple OOC scheduling math:

Playing Purdue in K2=cool.

Playing Indiana in K2=really cool.

Playing Indiana and Purdue (Fort Wayne)=not cool.

I seem to recall that IPFW gave Michigan State a really tough game last year.

The Zags need a couple of easy home games to start the year before Maui. There are just too many newcomers. As Coach Rice indicated in that interview, the staff will be "coaching" more than they have in recent years. If they can do that and still have quality home games later in the season against teams like Wake Forest, I am fine with the arrangement.

It's not a National TV game but it's not a terrible choice either. Kids need time to develop. It only makes sense to sprinkle some of these teams in the schedule considering what Few, etc have to work with. Zags lost 4 high end players and the new kids need to figure each other out. I'd like to see a super team (we have some) on National network but it's better this way IMO. We will lose games this year....I won't be surprised. Young team, new faces, lots of potential.....needing time.

A tune-up for Maui. These young Zags will need it.

BobZag - Here, here. What is wrong with a couple of cupcakes? This could be the confidence booster we need heading into Maui.

All Kiddwell asks is that they come in as cupcakes...and go out as pancakes.

Perfectly fine w/ this as a pre-Maui home game.

also - at least the team is Div1...

Indiana kids can flat play ball.

When I visited the Hoozier state, it seemed that every garage had a hoop above it.

Don't take them lightly.

Compared to NAIA Augustana or last year's South Carolina Nowheresville, it is a little better, but not likely to satisfy too much.

Fort Wayne is more Michigan than it is Indiana, they are just awful. You do get to heckle Fife, though, he sucks.
