Does Morrison and the Lakers play today?
Doesn't look like it. I guess the everyone was refering to 2008-09 Zags...

07-15-2009, 08:48 AM
Yes, indeed. Make that almost everyone. Ammo plays tomorrow.

Who, if any, of the undrafted Zags seems most likely to be signed at the end of summer league??? Pargo?? Josh??? Micah??? None???
Maybe this is worthy of a new thread.

Jeremy had 10 nice minutes judging by the line: 2-2, 4 pts, 3 asts.

Watch Micah & Josh http://atdhe.net/ End of first quarter, I haven't got an update although they did mention Gonzaga and talked about all 4 players.

And only 5 minutes for Josh?? Jesus, how much Andre Blatche and Dom McGuire do we need to see? OK, we get it, Josh gets it - don't do drugs!

Day Six Summer League Roundup

You have to love a player who's useful at any spot on the court. Austin Daye is that guy for Detroit. He's a classic, new wave three -- able to work as the ballhandler on the pick-and-roll, drive to the cup from the perimeter, post up against most small forwards, use a screen the right way, and hit from long range. Against the Knicks on Wednesday, he finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Just like many thought he could do. Of course it's just Summer League.

Is that Daye had 0(zero) assists to go alongside his 27 pts. I did not see the game, but it seems AD has learned the lessons of Casey at these types of events, and that is: Get yours. No one cares how well you play team ball, show them you have superstar potential.

After all, the league is not built on guys showing off their hoops IQ.

In an article on Austin in today's Detroit Free Press (http://www.freep.com/article/20090716/SPORTS03/907160440/1051/Pistons--Austin-Daye-impressive--needs-get-stronger), Joe Dumars is quoted as follows:

He shows you a super fundamentally sound game. He shows you the shooting stroke. He shows you the high basketball IQ. He's shown in the first couple of games all the things you like about him.

I post this only to point out that this is about the 5th time in the last month that I have read similar takes on Gonzaga players from people around the NBA. Specificallly, that Gonzaga players are gaining reputations as being very fundamentally sound players.

A tip of the hat goes to Mark Few and the entire coaching staff. That is a terrific compliment in today's game where fundamentals are often lacking.

A New Daye

Austin is the front page of ESPN NBA right now

Haven't seen it posted, an interview with Daye at nba.com:

Anyone else notice Pooh Jeter on the Blazer Roster, scoring 15 pts in 21 mins?

P. Mills injury provides an opportunity for fellow WCC point guard????

Best all-time sign in K2: "Pooh Stinks"

I watched the Pistons game on NBA TV (Cox cable here in Phoenix) and I couldn't help thinking what this year could have been with Daye around. He could have had an Ammo type year this next season. Sounds like Dumars is really high on him and expects a lot out of him.
Pargo looked solid in the minutes he played- blew by his guy for a lay-in, and another bucket in transition for an and1 opportunity (missed the free throw, of course). He didn't force any shots or passes, and got the ball to guys. I'll miss his highlight dunks and that A+ scowl when he's getting really into the game. The Pistons let Afflolo go, and no more AI, so you never know...
