Team USA is winning due to stifling defense. They are just shutting down opponents.

I posted this on another thread but maybe it fits better here. How did they select players for the USA team? There are quite a few super-elite (five star) kids who appear to be age-eligible to play on the US team but who are not on the roster. Did they get cut? Did their designated colleges elect not to permit them to participate?

I know nothing about international basketball or FIBA.

This game is one I'd like to see. I wonder if it's on the net. Anyone?

I have been told that a lot talented players elected not to participate in the trials to begin with....both returning college kids and incoming freshmen. There weren't any surprising cuts at the trials other than Kenny Boynton. The present team is basically what Team USA got stuck with. They picked the guys who they felt would work best as a team. With Jamie Dixon, Chris Lowery and Matt Painter on the coaching staff, there was a heavy emphasis on defense and versatility on offense. Whatever they did and are doing appears to be working.

Oooooo. That's a tough one for the kid and WSU. Hope he gets well soon with no lasting impairments.
