I ain't gonna do it - neither text nor twitter, not now, not never!

My son drove into Spokane from Seattle yesterday, and he announced that midway in the trip, he received an urgent text from his nine-year-old daughter, demanding to know, "How many more miles to go????" When he didn't tap out a response quickly enough, she followed up with, "Please respond!!!!!!!! No, Seriously!!!!" (The "No, Seriously!!!" was her comment, not mine.

Think of twittering as this:

Opportunity to get free updates via text messages (if you most likely have unlimited text) or you can get updates via the web on your phone.

It's pretty useful if you don't have access to the games or would like some inside tidbits that gametracker doesn't provide or the web stories.

You don't' have to tweet...you can always just follow along...I believe it's just another option to get info out on the web in a new fashion.

but nowadays I can't avoid it. Everyone is doing it. Right out in the open, behind the wheel, under the covers and even on the playgrounds, in pubs and in church.

Unfortunately, yes. http://twitter.com/titopoet If you blog or work in SEO, you have to. I do both as I am a professional SEO, specializing in back links, and my blog www.life-and-faith.org (http://www.life-and-faith.org) is a Christian Century Blog. If yiou go to my blog, you can see the latest latest GU fan. (My son was born eight weeks ago)

I had no interest in twittering, and thought it sounded stupid, but when I saw something on the KHQ website that they would be sending some Zags info from their Twitter account in March, I joined, and they were the 1st ones I followed. I quickly got much more interested in it. I have found some great ppl there who love talking sports, and I other people that I just follow and don't interact with. Also get news stories, and most importantly, updates from Astronaut Mike Massimino while he was in space. : )

So as someone who scoffed at the idea of Twitter for the last year or so that I had heard of it, I am now a convert. Also great for networking, which could come in handy should I ever want a job again...and for entertainment. Tonight, for example, I had a few Twitter friends (that I've never met in person) keeping me, and many others, updated on the trainwreck that was "Joe Buck Live" on HBO, as I have every sports channel on the planet, but don't have any movie channels.

It can be used however you want, taking up as little or as much time as you want. It can be used on your computer, iPod touch, iPhone, any other cell phone, etc.

If I've even slightly convinced you to try it, I recommend checking out TweetDeck for your PC, and Tweetie for iPod/iPhone. There are hundreds of programs/apps available for Twitter, as the website is about the lamest feature of Twitter.

It's Tim Lewis over at KREM 2.

We use Twitter in our sports department.

I was hesitant at first, but now I realize it's a great way to get information (stories, interviews, etc.) out to our viewers quickly. It's actually the first place we post new information when we find out about it.

http://www.twitter.com/KREM2Sports

I don't know if I'd ever use it on a personal level, but I will never hesitate again to use it on a professional level.
