Santa Clara is waiting for Kerry Keating and UCLA to finish playing so it can decide between Keating and Cal assistant Louis Reynaud.

And a real good article--

The Katz article on recruiting rankings and the final 4 teams is quite good. It is very important that you get players that fit well together. It also shows you that Howland, Thompson and Donovan have an eye for talent that some other coaches don't. For instance, Darren Collison's next best offer coming out of high school was San Diego State. Right now he might be the best all around point guard in the country on both ends.

That being said, all of the final 4 teams have multiple future NBA ballers. There is no substitute for talent. Whether coaches are able to land that talent thru top 50 type guys or developing under the radar guys...it doesn't really matter. Collison wasn't a top 100 guy, Afflalo was a McDonald's AA....but both are future first round picks. I know George Mason made it without such talent, but they're a rare exception. You need the talent to get to this stage of the game.

Here's an interesting article about the three seniors on last year's team. What a difference a year makes. They were a fun team to watch.
