That's all it says here but I would like to see that, although I'd be stunned if the Spartans agreed to play in K2!

Here is a bit more info that I posted elsewhere last night:

"SCHEDULING PLANS [for Michigan State University]: MSU will play at Texas and at North Carolina next season, and Izzo said there are other big games in the works. The Spartans are in talks with Gonzaga about a home-and-home series, which would start next season in East Lansing."

If you can make this happen....

I bet the "home and home will result in East Lansing and Seattle. They'd still be a great BIS opponent.

Zags lost a 70-68 heartbreaker in East Lansing in '97 when some guy named Mateen Cleaves hit a late shot.

Time for some payback -- and getting a return game.

Slozag, Went back a bit through the posts to make sure I wasn't posting info already on the board. Guess I missed your post but thanks for the info regarding the potential start of the home and home in East Lansing as early as next season. I was not aware of that.

On the contrary, from what I am hearing, and nothing is set in stone as it hasn't been finalized by a longshot... IF it happens it will be a true home and home. Duke game could be tied into a BIS appearance... again nothing close to being finalized.

As far as Michigan State and K2 is concerned....if they agree to do the home and home, I think there's a good chance that you'll see MSU at K2. Sparty played at Bradley two years ago and at IPFW last season. Izzo's crew always plays a challenging non-league sked, and they aren't adverse to playing on the home floor of a non-BCS team. There's also the Jud Heathcote connection.

This would be awesome! I do think that Izzo is really pretty good about going on the road and playing people. Much more willing than a lot of big name schools. God I hope this happens!!

If ESPN is willing to foot the bill for the loss in gate revenue in exchange for atmosphere....well...it could happen... really...it could...I used to have the conventional "wisdom" that no big name would ever come to K2...but...if the Broadcast People decide that that is what they want...well...Jud might get this done...Izzo would do it...:)

Wow! From the Detroit Free Press (http://www.freep.com/article/20090429/SPORTS07/904290360/1055/Tar+Heels++Texas+highlight+roadshow+for+MSU+hoops) today:

Also in the works is a home-and-home series with Gonzaga, with the game in Spokane possibly being played in 2009-10

Great find ZN. I hope that turns out to be the case. Along with Duke that would be a great schedule. No WVU please.:)

The MSU game will probably be in the MAC 2 days after the Duke game in NYC and when the students are home for Christmas.

If MSU only wanted to play in Seattle, i bet GU would insist on the other game to be in Detroit, also I have a feeling this could end up being the BIS game this year, and in Detroit next...BIS is still be be determined and no one else fits this yet...I know Illinois is in Seattle Next year as we are in Chicago this year...

I hope not. Sparty in K2 this coming season would be great. Maybe Gameday worthy, but after the poor showing last Gameday, it's doubtful. Either way, Sparty in K2 would be excellent.

It would not just be great, it would be epic.

To get a returning Final Four team and national runner up is huge. To get a program to come that has been to five final fours in 11 years is even bigger.

Hope springs eternal, notwithstanding many disappointments after rumors similar to this in years past.

Make it happen Gonzaga. The fans deserve it and most of all, the players deserve it.
