[These rankings assume, for the most part, that some of those who declared may not return; fwiw, I hear Daye is leaning towards returning]

Those rankings under Gottlieb are kind of strange, he has Oregon as a team to watch. Just because a team returns all its players doesn't mean they will be good. Talent outweighs experience and Oregon is thin on talent.

Gonzaga should probably be sixth preseason on that list. I live in Berkeley, and Gonzaga has a better team returning than Cal. They also have a bundle of talent coming in, which greatly improves their depth. I think Meech is Rondoesque(think Kentucky, not superstar NBA player currently playing brilliant basketball for the Boston Celtics in one of the most exciting first round series in a good while). I draw the line at JaJuan Johnson, since Gonzaga's front court is still largely unproven. Gonzaga's 100% upgraded what it's depth chart looks like if these guys can stay healthy. There's certainly a lot of quesion marks there, but I'm quite hopeful that by the end of the season they'll be among the top 3 teams and a number one seed. What a upbeat post...how do you feel about the chances for peace in the Middle East ???

I think Katz has UNC WAY WAY too high...Gonzaga is about right, we should start the season pretty low, even if we get Daye back, and depending on how well the team gels, let us earn a higher ranking...maybe top 10 by the end of the year if we can get through this prospective murderous schedule...

Except that it is unlikely that Daye returns next year...I personally don't think he comes back with any 1st round guarantee which he will get. Also, by oversigning I am guessing the staff has some knowledge as to what is happening unless someone is leaving the program we don't know of or if Kong isn't coming.
