Crummy food and empty seats are obvious choices, but not what I'm looking for...

Fans disguised as empty seats ?

A Mortgage ?

Walls instead of Seats behind the baskets?

This was my immediate thought as well, yet both USD and SCU have seats featured behind their baskets.

Last guess:

Every arena in the WCC feature a capacity of 5500 or less. The MAC has the largest capacity in the Conference with 6000+.

I've yet to see my first game in the MAC, being poor and a westsider (I went to plenty of games in the first Kennel when I was a student, just to establish my bona fides). But didn't I hear somewhere that GU isn't hanging WCC championship banners, only banners for NCAA appearances?

It must be either auxilary lines on the court as Reno said or hanging championship banners from other sports around the University. For example, in the picture above there are at least three Championship banners from Tennis and Volleyball. I believe the MAC only features bball-related banners in the gym.

Edit to add: Nice observation Reno!

Chiles Center (UP) doesnt have other permanent lines on the main court during basketball season (see attached pic; there are parallel courts laid out under the grandstands that are visible only when the seats are pulled back, however)... there will occasionally be temporary volleyball lines on the main court during the volleyball/basketball overlap, though.

Pilot Nut:

You don't mind if I have that martini anyway, do you ? :)

It's beautiful here on the deck, the pups are romping in the grass, there's hardly a breeze, and there are two olives staring at me from the bottom of a finestkind cocktail. . .

3 days ago there was an inch and half of snow on the deck. . .Ah, Spring !

I'll let you have the martini! ;)

I will be cracking open a beverage myself, momentarily...
