Brothers and Sisters it's time for another round of Zag Trivia.
Casey Calvary's tip in basket against Florida in March of 1999 advanced the Zags to the elite 8 of the NCAA tourney. Casey's shot will be remembered for generations. Who can remember the very first points scored by a Zag in NCAA tournament play?

In Salt Lake City Joseph Smith was not about to allow any of our bigs to score first. So it was up to our brother from Sisters, Kyle Dixon to score on a break from off the tip off. Well done 229

I totally should have remembered that. It reminds me of a story ....
I was editor of the Bulletin that semester. We sent a reporter and photog to Salt Lake to cover the game, and I told the photographer to take a picture of the scoreboard if we scored the first bucket, because it'd probably be our only lead of the game. Dixon scored, photog took the picture and we ran it in the paper. Zags 2, Terrapins 0.

I was actually at that game, and the only basket I remember was a big dunk by Paul Rogers which made all the Texas and Oregon fans give a loud "Whoa" with surprise.
