Second Round - Saturday's Games' Thread

Three blowouts so far ... well, #'s 2 and 3 in progress ....

I like the results but it's not quite the drama of last night's evening session.
So many brackets, so little time.

    I'm expecting a pretty early good game in Portland ... 5 - Purdue and 4 - UW

That will definitely be a good one. I took UW, but changed my mind a bunch of times. Either way, I don't think it'll be a blow out.

I do hope there's at least 1 more blow-out today, though - go GU!!!

I don't get the Vasquez hate...

GU was recruiting him really hard. If Bouldin went to UConn, we would be starting him right now.

I think it's a combination of his emotions and the fact that English is not his native language. Somehow he manages to say things that just infuriate the opposing teams. Think back to his comments before the 40 point drubbing at Duke. Crowds love to hate him because of it.

I for one don't hate Vasquez ... we were responsible for getting him placed in the prep school and eh, things just happened differently than hoped ... at the time.

I think that things have worked out pretty well since.

He just didn't back up his talk (and I will allow that language difference might have been a factor). In the end, our brethren schooled an ACC school and reaches their fourth straight Sweet Sixteen.

              Congrats to the Tigers!

                UW - Purdue
                first break ... 5 - 2 Boilermakers. Hummel 3 boards, Brockman 4

                UNC - LSU
I'm not expecting much from LSU. I didn't have them surviving the first round.
I just wonder if they can slow UNC at all ...

LSU is currently putting up a better fight than the Huskies. . .

Purdue looks pretty solid so far. Huskies won't roll over, but they are in a fight and taking some blows so far.

Lawson is in a lot of pain, but trying to play through it; Ellington may have tweaked his ankle.

                      LSU 20
                      UNC 19

                      7:14 to go

LSU is showing no fear. Trent Johnson's charges have looked pretty good so far.

Purdue shooting lights out---I hope the Zags do not start out today like the Huskies so far.
