The two that stand out are....

Kansas over Michigan State
Mizzou over Marquette

I would take Marquette, and I would take West Virginia over Kansas, but Michigan State over West Virginia.

I think UCLA if they get past VCU, will beat Villanova. Yeah i know nova is at home, but they lost two of three games they played in that arena this year.

I like USC over BC Demar Derozan has been spectacular lately... freshman growing up?

Sienna over Ohio St

BYU over A&M in the rematch of last years first round matchup.

I hate to say it but Marquette could be a first round KO playing in Boise against Utah State without D. James. Boise is very close to Utah State

I wouldn't be so quick to pick Marquette over Utah St. Utah St. is playing close to home and Marquette isn't playing well without Dominic James I think they could pull the upset there.

Edit: oops just noticed D Hark's post sorry for the repeat.

8 vs 9 and 7 vs. 10's are always the toughest in Round one to call.

Looking at Ken Pomeroy's site UCLA looks to be way underrated.

I am going to look at WV again but I was unimpressed with the way they play sometimes. They have been off and on. having said that, my dad and mom were born in WV and I lived there.

I am going to stick with Kansas though. I did not think too highly about Michigan State at the beginning of the year and their second half schedule was not that tough in comparison to Kansas.

It could happen -- I think I will stick with Marquette though. Without James they played the following games. Notice only a 1 point loss to Villanova.

3/4 @Pittsburgh L 90-75
3/7 Syracuse L 86-79
3/11 St John's W 74-45
3/12 @Villanova L 76-75

Utah State lost to SMC without Patty Mills also.

I will also stick with Mizzo over Marquette cause of pomoroy 10 and 20 and said injury.

Thanks for the input! I love to hear everyones point of view. It could go either way.

Disagree. UCLA doesn't have any really good wins this year. They're basically a 2 person team and aren't playing great D this year (plus Collison has been having some sort of back issues or something). Nova will smoke them at home IMO. They'll get far enough to play 'Nova, though.

i'm not really 1 to judge others brackets considering I have gonzaga in my final 4, i'm really banking on the fact UNC plays no defense and lawson is hurting ;P Pitt GU Memphis and MSU is my final 4

Wow - you have some crazy upsets in there! Bison over Kansas? I know it's in Minneapolis, but I'm not so sure. Of course, I guess no one thought Bucknell would beat them either. Also not sure of Port St over Xavier. It's possible, but Xavier will destroy Port St inside I think - they'll have to shoot complete lights out from the perimiter to get it done and I don't think they can, even in Portland. Also, I've only seen BYU play once this year, but they didn't look THAT good. I do think they'll beat A&M, though. Anyway, I guess that's what makes brackets great - the bracket busters. So good luck with those. I'll be cheering for all those teams... but I'm not sure I'll pick them. :)

I like the Bison to beat Kansas as well.

Also USC over Michigan State in the 2nd round.

Oddly enough, statistically UCLAs defense is about as good as Pitt and UNC. I think there's perception problem in comparing UCLAs defense this year to last years. They're adequate on D and their offense is lights out.

I, much like everyone else, love upsets and probably pick too many of them. Hated all the chalk last year. Lets hope this year is different.

Everytime I've seen PSU play they've fought tough, Xavier is going cross country to play Portland at home. Same situation with North Dakota State, and I'm not really high on Kansas or Xavier.

I also don't think highly of Michigan St and think that USC is starting to play with their talent so I can see that region going haywire.

Depending on your bracket scoring system, from my experience it's more important to get your final 4/elite 8 teams right then picking those early round 5/12 & 7/10 upsets. I tend to fill in my final 4 teams and work my way down the bracket that way.
