What I want to see from Radford and Butler (they will beat LSU) over the weekend is an aggressive, probing test of Ty Lawson's toe. I want to know if this is a turf-toe injury that will hinder his play. Do not hold back and "respect" him as an all-american. Instead, treat him as an injured warrior and test his weakness. If it is his right toe, force him to go left. Pressure full court, get in his grill and see if he responds (nobody with a leg injury likes to be dogged up and down the court). On offense, run an active weave, make him run through alot of high picks, isolate him with your quickest guy---see what he can do.

When (If) the Zags meet UNC in the round of 16, I want him tested and worn down. I want to know what Ty's got.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wondering about this myself. Turf toe does not seem like an injury that players would get over quickly. Did a little search online and found this:

Will turf toe return?
Unfortunately, turf toe can return, and rehabilitation may be slow. Most athletes have trouble when they try to come back to sports too soon after sustaining a turf toe injury.

MedZag would probably be able to give us better info though.

Touche indeed! Quite the riposte; truly a thorough derobement of an obvious moulinet feint that ended not in trompement, but in tears and toe-aches. The appel gave it away - a bad toe is a recipe for a spotty feint. I had half a mind that he'd be going in for a Ballestra Lunge, but knew it would be a suicide mission. Either way, you countered masterfully.

Sounds like turf toe. If it is, he will not be 100% for the rest of the year. And if its serious, bone chips/spurs, he may be done.I'll leave it for the md's to analyze.

Lawson could miss tourney openerComment Email Print Share Associated Press
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Ty Lawson's troublesome toe could keep North Carolina's speedy point guard sidelined for the Tar Heels' NCAA tournament opener.

Coach Roy Williams says the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year must practice Tuesday and Wednesday in order to play in Thursday's NCAA matchup against Radford. Lawson has been hobbled since injuring his right big toe before the regular-season finale against Duke, an injury that sidelined him at last weekend's ACC tournament.

Williams says Lawson's recovery is going slower than he had expected. Lawson said at the ACC tournament that he was feeling better after several days of rest.

The Tar Heels are the top seed in the South Region and open the tournament in Greensboro, N.C., about an hour from campus.

Hey, I was just thinking, when we beat UConn in the national championship do you think they'll call the win tainted because they didn't have Dyson. :D

As an irrational Zag fan, I'd revel in the TAAAAAAIINT all the way to an elite 8or final 4.

I'm assuming you all know what a "taint" is in the common parlance and you're just having fun with it. It makes me feel better to think that. Because if I were to think that you didn't know, my head would explode with the urgent necessity of hilarious ironical commentary making fun of your diction.

Hehe... diction.

Hey Doc. Just having some fun on the message board. No need for your head to explode. Want you around for the Zags' deep run.

We win the NCAA. Kentucky wins NIT. That would be quite the ironic story line.

I just heard coach Williams say that Lawson is highly doubtful for the first round. It didn't sound too good for the second round either.
