And Arizona might not make the NCAAs.

If this happens, where does Gonzaga stand on censecutive trips to the NCAAs?

I found a presser (http://www.gozags.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/031708aaa.html) from last year ... our ten then, now eleven was tied with Wisconsin and Texas for sixth ... looks like they will both reach this year as well.

It doesn't list the ones ahead of us, but tobi's list looks about right ... and I know Arizona was ahead of us as well.

maybe Billy Gillispie can use his free time (after they lose in the 1st round of the NIT) to practice his interview manners:

...reminds me how lucky we are to have a coach that is 100% class.

He may also need to dust off his JOB interview manners, as well.

Seriously. University of Kentucky. Two great college basketball players (Meeks, Patterson). And one of the weakest SECs in recent memory. And they can't even sniff the tournament? That can't be going over well in Bluegrass country. I wonder if the folks in Lexington are regretting running Tubby Smith out of town.

The UK fans are regretting that their school didn't pursue Tom Crean, who, in addition to being a superb coach and recruiter, has a personality that's made for that job.

UK was correct to run off Tubby. He's a good coach in a lot of ways, but he was and still is a lazy recruiter. That's inexcusable at a school like that UK with its resources and tradition. The Cats aren't going to win national championships by taking in non-BCS caliber talents like Michael Porter, which Tubby was doing far too often.

I've heard that said about Tubby several times before, but I'm not so sure I see it. His recruiting class from a couple years back was incredibly heralded (Rajon Rondo, Joe Crawford, Randolph Morris). They underachieved big time, which may have lead to Tubby's departure, but nevertheless it was, at the time, considered a major recruiting haul.

I think the problem is that UK fans expect someone that will recruit like Roy Williams. But nobody brings in the recruits that Roy Williams does. Nobody.

that job is crazy. There were over 11,000 folks screaming bloody murder on the KU board after they lost at home to Georgia...I've never seen it over 400 here, although maybe it happens. 11,000 screaming fanatics like us, all popping veins in their heads, freaking out over the state of their team.

Yuck. No thanks.

On Tubby, he's got his weaknesses (already being distilled by our awesome GU board!!!), but the guy is good on the bench and in the heads of his players...they respond to him wherever he goes. I mean, a black man won the national championship out of Rupp Arena. That is beautiful and forever, I don't care who recruited the players (Pitino gets props of course).

Only respect from me to Tubby.

And Kentucky is getting what they deserve.

GO TEAM ZAGS!!!

I found his reaction to be nothing less than correct. Her question was very out of line given the nature of any TEAM sport that doesn't involve professionals (because we all know the Pros like to be recognized individually). I'm not a big fan of him, but even I was frustrated as to why she asked that.

Is as follows if Kentucky and Arizona find themselves in the NIT:

Kansas (1990-present)
Duke (1996-present)
Michigan State (1998-present)
Gonzaga, Texas, Wisconsin (1999-present)

Not bad company.

Impressive, even if Arizona gets in. Btw, I don't believe Arizona will make it in next year, they'll lose Budinger and Hill, and have no recruiting class coming in.

Pennell's done an amazing job given the situation. AZ ought to make him permanent IMO.

calipari at memphis...at least for the incoming class...if he keeps going at this rate, we're never going to beat them...

IMHO Wisconsin should be in the NIT and off the list of consecutive appearances, too.
Look at their schedule along with the other mediocre big 10 teams - I don't think it passes the "eye test" for all those big 10 teams to be in.
