Here's a nice article from the Las Vegas Sun regarding some of the players who helped bring the WCC to the Orleans and some of the concerns voiced by the WCC. When you get to the end of the article you will note as a concession to the WCC the Orleans agreed to take no sports bets on WCC games and there will be no beer served in the arena. Unlike some other venues where the WCC has been played I would guess beer etc. will be avialable in close proximity.

It's Vegas, no beer must mean they will only be serving hard alcohol and shooters.

Fun article! The "Gonzaga Invitational!" Love it!

As a concession to the WCC presidents, the Orleans won’t accept bets on the WCC games. And you won’t be able to buy a beer inside the arena.

“Those two things were very important to us,” Zaninovich said.

But if the priests who run the WCC are anything like the ones in my parish growing up, I don’t suspect they’ll have any trouble locating the casino lounges before tipoff.

Funny article!

How close is the nearest casino, in case The Voice finds the need to place a wager on the Zags?

Voice, I was thinking the same thing. I know it's 2 miles to the intersection of Tropicana and the strip where we will find among others nearby, New York, New York, MGM Grand, the Tropicana and the Excalibur.

:(

I understand their reasoning but had my hopes set on drinking and gamblin on WCC games.

Eh, the sun comes up tomorrow, and by the time it does, I'll be in LV so I can't complain too much.
