How could senior night get any better ?

The Spartans were overrun by the Zags.

In honor of the occasion, who's your SENIOR GUnit of the Game ?

03-03-2009, 06:36 PM
I have to give it to Sorenson. I've never seen someone have that much fun on the court. That boy can shoot!

03-03-2009, 06:41 PM
Andrew! Wasn't he high scorer? Close to it anyway... and boy he was fun to watch. :)

03-03-2009, 06:43 PM
The man who never saw a 3 pointer he didn't like... Mr. Sorenson. :D

5 Great men. 5 Great Zags. No bad choices.

Loved the "throwback" warmups - these 5 seniors I believe all respect the history, and love GU basketball and what it means to the Gonzaga community and the Spokane community.

That being said - the GUnit was very, very clear.

Andrew Sorenson.

Unofficial Vote so it doesn't throw off the unamimous Sorenson snowball.

Zag Moms!

Mom's make great young adults. Saw it here five times.

This may be the first unanimous selection in the history of the GUnit thread.

Guess not.

I don't think Joshua Heytfelt has anything left to apologize for. What transpired has been erased from my mind. I love Josh and hope that he has a great post season and future.

03-03-2009, 07:00 PM
Andrew represents the best in all of us.

Love the Seniors.

Thanks guys.

Go!! Zags!!!

03-03-2009, 07:02 PM
I'm the one that voted for Josh.

Sorry, I couldn't help it. No matter what happened in the past I've always had a soft spot for the guy, and the video of him thanking everyone for taking him back got my vote.

It's more of a lifetime achievement award I guess.

Sorenson, hands down!

03-03-2009, 07:06 PM
had that infectious smile on his face just about the whole time he was in there. He was hustling, too. got some defensive turnovers and at least one board that I saw.

great night for the zags seniors. The five sr. starters had 53 points between them.

On to the WCC and then the dance !

GO Zags ! ! !

Don't apologize. I felt the same thing.

All five seniors!!!!!!!!!!

Could only vote for one though, so why not give it to Andrew!?!?!

03-03-2009, 07:13 PM
Does anyone have the boxscore from this game?

NVM found it :)

03-03-2009, 07:14 PM
Mr. Sorenson....Bring on Saint Mary's in Vegas baby

03-03-2009, 07:21 PM
Andrew ****in' Sorenson

Does anyone have the boxscore from this game?

USC upstate

Lots of data.

The icing on the cake. A couple 3's rattled in and out or he would have had 20!!! Can you imagine? It was great to see CP3 get his 1st basket as well.

The fun they had was just what the doctor ordered. They seemed to be as close as they have been all year long! They seem pretty cohesive right now. A genuine love for each other as well as the community.

Bring on Vegas- Bring on whoever, whenever, wherever after that. Zags are primed for something special!

The Seniors, but since Reno didn't give us that option Andrew...he had a lot of fun tonight.

03-03-2009, 07:59 PM
Not to diminish the efforts and accomplishments of the other 4 seniors over the years and this game, but...........

It's Andrew's day to shine! And shine he did. :)

This is a day he will be sharing with his grandchildren.

03-03-2009, 08:13 PM
Sorensen by a mile.

Sorensen by a mile.

By a smile?

No offense to the three scrooges that voted for someone other than Sorenson, but this was his day in a most meaningless game. He earned and deserved the spot light. The others? They have the WCC and the NCAA tourneys to shine. Here's to Sorenson on Senior Night and to JH and Micah in the NCAAs.

I had a hunch this afternoon that Andrew was going to be GUnit of the game, and said it im my thread. The guy can flat out shoot. I love his stroke. But Andrew is ALL ABOUT the reason we all play basketball, and it's why he's so loved by all. I learned a lot about him this week here on the board thanks to ZagNative. I thought that thread was so awesome, and I felt that somehow he was going to respond (even without reading it). I know how happy she is tonight, and I'm happy for her. He does have a great smile. And he shows the depth of Gonzaga's team. Gonzaga has a saying that the team is as good as their last player (the guys who gets the least playing time). And on this Zag team Andrew Sorenson makes Gonzaga a GREAT team because he is all about greatness and showed it tonight. He will NEVER forget this night. And what I will also remember is how happy the team guys were for him. They love that kid. I just loved watching them love him all like a band of brothers. If this team doesn't have team chemistry no team ever will. They cleared that up tonight. I just have a sneaky suspicion that the TEAM wanted the ending to be like this. And if you haven't read ZagNative's thread on Andrew, please do. You learn how and why the team loves this guy. Every team should have an Andrew Sorenson.

I have been privileged to know Andrew since he was a "boy" and played on the high school team my son was the manager for. This young man has always been exceptional. Every nice thing said about him on this board could be multiplied many times over with no danger whatsoever of exaggeration. He really is that great a human being.

Sorenson. This guy is peaking at just the right time. His could be the hot hand that carries us deep into the tourney.
Seriously though, AS is one of the easiest players to root for. Its like watching your chubby friend drain threes in an intermural game, or your kid brother hit a game winning shot for his JV team, except this is the Zags on senior night and with a big television audience. What a great story.

03-04-2009, 06:23 AM
Andrew! Did you see the bench when CP3 made the layup? They went nuts and of course Mr. Sorenson was the most enthusiastic, almost jumping out of the building! I couldn't imagine a better way to end the regular season. Thank you, seniors. Can't wait for the tourneys to start!

03-04-2009, 06:25 AM
Mr. Sorenson... hands down.

03-04-2009, 07:03 AM
Andrew -- way to go out in style

Class act, team leader and certainly deserving of ending his GU home carreer as the G-Unit.

03-04-2009, 07:07 AM
andrew ALL the way - awesome showing, what a great kid and great attitude... Greg and Craig were right on when they said every team NEEDS a guy like this on their team whether he gets minutes or not, he's like our new Turiaf without the production on the court

03-04-2009, 07:10 AM
No doubt about it! Sorenson!! I bet he is STILL on cloud 9 this morning. You could tell he was having the time of his life. What a great guy. Congrats Sorenson, and thanks to all the seniors!
