say portland loses at santa clara to end the season and ends up tied with st.mary's at 10-4...who gets the 2 seed and bye into the semi's??? would think st.mary's gets to go dancing if it makes it to the finals and loses to the zags, but would be in serious trouble if it lost in the semi's...

WCC tie breaker:

1. Record vs. team tied with
2. Record against other conference teams, starting at the top
3. If still tied after 1 and 2, then RPI is used to break the tie

Good answer Angelo. I think they take the Collegiate Basketball RPI of which, as of 2/15, SMC was a 60 and Portland was 104.

Two tough games for UP to end with.

Not that I'm questioning the wisdom of AR -- but can you provide link to WCC rules -- I'm sure they are deep in the bowels of WCC site.

Thanks AR for the info -
It would appear as if Portland has to win out to get two seed, unless SMC really stubs their toe vs LMU or Pepp, not likely.

This article doesn't lay it out specifically, but it gives an example:

Here's the conference rule book, in PDF format:

http://www.netitor.com/photos/schools/west/genrel/auto_pdf/sport-regs-082907.pdf

This also contains the rules for all-conference, POY, COY voting, etc.

The link button appears to have changed, so forgive any gobbledygook.

Anyway all scenarios (from before Thursday) are spelled out in this post.
