The 2009 season opened on the 20th in Phoenix Az taking part in the Grand Canyon Tourney. The Zags dropped the opener 7-4 to Nevada, They then bounced back taming the Mizzou Tigers 9-3 and enjoyed sweet revenge against the wolves 14-2. Mon. the 22nd they go against Mizzou again.
They return to the northwest and face the Cougs in Pullman at 5:30 PT. on Feb 24th. If the weather is decent HBZ may make the trek down to the paloose and hopefully root home a Bulldog victory over Wazzu. The Zags will be lead by redshirt junior catcher Tyson Van Winkle hitting .538 with a homer and 7 rbi's over the first three games. The home opener will not be until 3/10 against the fuskies. Although they have another shot versus the Cougs in Pullman on 3/3 again with a 5:30 PT first pitch. This is perhaps the most talented Zag nine in recent memory so lets show em some luv while they win the WCC and push on to the College World Series in Omaha. Gotta think big!!

It is great to see the Zags doing well in baseball. Do you have any information on freshman pitcher Carpenter? I heard he is throwing 95 mph heat...with good results.
