Watch for Pepperdine to put up a LOT of treys tonight, it's really their only chance to have a chance. The Zags know a win gives them yet another WCC championship, so while they might not play as energized as if it were a bigger opponent, the fellas sure should put energy into their effort.

Go Zags!

I hope Will gets to play in both halves tonight, not just garbage time at the end. I'm also looking forward to seeing an Ira! alley-oop dunk and Meech going baseline to baseline for one of his high-speed, falling down lay-ups.

Asbury is a solid coach, they're just devoid of enough talent to win much. The Zags may win by 20. Ira! could get a highlight.

Zags and Memphis might emerge as only unbeaten teams in conference. OU lost.

Pre-game is kickin' -

for those of you without ESPNU, one option is to follow ZagMan in Philly's link to justintv (http://www.justin.tv/zagman_in_philly) .

Thanks. I had thought that it would be on ESPN360 -- but apparently not.

A moose just walked by on the street ... That of course is an omen for Ira! to go off tonight ... (Good Call BZ!)

Zags clean up the conference like Sham-WOW!

Akzag

in the Pac, the Washington schools took out the L.A. schools ...

BobZag

Watch out for a 3-point shooting fest from Pepperdine. Zag coaches expect it so I'm crossing fingers that the Zags body up on their shooters, let the bigs handle their bigs. Just shutdown the threes, Zags. Stick on them in transition and go over the top of screens.

Akzag
02-21-2009, 07:30 PM
Nice of you to hang out with us tonight, BZ ...

Nice job Micah ...

BobZag
02-21-2009, 07:38 PM
So far so good. Good effort level thus far. Need to finish better, tho.

Akzag
02-21-2009, 07:40 PM
well ... at least we got the banked three out of the way early

RenoZag
02-21-2009, 07:41 PM
I like that they're pounding it inside to Josh. . .

BobZag
02-21-2009, 07:42 PM
Josh playing well. Nice effort and energy. Pepp is executing too. Matt has two steals.

zagirl2k
02-21-2009, 07:44 PM
well ... at least we got the banked three out of the way early

isn't that the truth! Slug and I were commenting that there seems to be at least one of those a game lately.

BobZag
02-21-2009, 07:44 PM
Pargo passes Stockton in assists. Congrats!

Akzag
02-21-2009, 07:45 PM
I like the obvious emphasis on going to Josh, but he's gotta make some of those or back it out

Akzag
02-21-2009, 07:46 PM
There we go Josh

I like the D so far.

2 treys for Pepp now.

02-21-2009, 07:52 PM
uh-oh ... Ira! with a aching back ...

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 07:53 PM
Grey has very poor shot selection early...get warm by driving...not falling away.

BobZag
02-21-2009, 07:53 PM
Okay, screwing up a bit now. I sense a lull in energy/effort.

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 07:54 PM
Much better attack...zags don't need 3's until up by 15.

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 07:55 PM
Go inside until they triple team and stop the easy ones.

BobZag
02-21-2009, 07:55 PM
Zags falling in love with treys too much.

Drive it.

RenoZag
02-21-2009, 07:55 PM
I didn't catch her name but the commentator working the game with Heister has clearly done her homework; her observations are chock full o' facts.

Zags are settling for the three ball too much for my tastes. . .

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 07:55 PM
If I am not mistaken, Josh has only been challenged with success once.

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 07:57 PM
Excessinve 3's disrespects the opponent...invites comebacks.

zagsfan21

Did anyone see that swim move Micah just pulled behind the low guy on that FT attempt? Goodness.

GU69
02-21-2009, 07:58 PM
I've got an idea .... let's try a two-point shot ... just for variety.

BobZag
02-21-2009, 07:58 PM
Treys aren't falling. Remedy: stop shooting treys and attack the basket. Elementary, my dear Watson.

G'night, y'all. Go Zags!

GU69
02-21-2009, 07:59 PM
Going in to Josh was working. Let's get back to that.

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 08:01 PM
Now's the time, against inferior teams like this, to work on their attacks at the rim, inside passing, drawing defenders out and driving the lane. It just seems once one player shoots the 3, they all want to put up the numbers...meanwhile, Josh is having his way and getting it one of every four attempts.

Akzag
02-21-2009, 08:03 PM
XIV for Josh ...

Akzag
02-21-2009, 08:05 PM
Ira! (back) back to the bench

Akzag

The Waves have NOBODY that can guard Josh ... feed the beast

montanazag88

Grey 0-4. No attempts in the paint. Nuts. Good passing last series.

Shocker! Will gets some 1st half action for a change!

Akzag
02-21-2009, 08:12 PM
The Waves have NOBODY that can stop the Foster Monster !!! (Keep the passes up high, boys)

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 08:14 PM
Zags want to keep the open 3's - need to get it inside every other posession.

RenoZag
02-21-2009, 08:15 PM
Foster is giving the Zags some good minutes. . .

RenoZag
02-21-2009, 08:17 PM
Matt is really stroking it tonight. . .

Zags up by 23 at the break. 48 - 25

Akzag
02-21-2009, 08:18 PM
16 for Josh. 16 for Matt.

16 for Josh. 16 for Matt.

Is this the omen for Co-Players of the Year for the WCC?

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 08:35 PM
That's more like it.

montanazag88
02-21-2009, 08:36 PM

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 08:49 PM
Josh is peaking at the right time. It is awesome watching him play like this, after watching his career evolve for the last four years. He's fired up!

GU69
02-21-2009, 08:51 PM
Josh is having a great game.

The GUnit is going to be easy to pick for tonight.

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 08:51 PM
No doubt about that.

Baldwinzag
02-21-2009, 08:52 PM
How is Daye returning to the game? Is he running on adrenaline or what? It looked like he broke his ankle. Good news for him and the Zags that he's able to return. I'm sure he'll be feeling it tomorrow...

Baldwinzag
02-21-2009, 08:53 PM
Erica > Ehlo

Hands down.

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 08:54 PM
He just made it through a TV timeout without it tightening up on him, too. They must have some dynamite tape in Spokane.

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 08:55 PM
Can still shoot J's with a sprained ankle.

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 08:56 PM
Micah!

Baldwinzag
02-21-2009, 08:59 PM
That was the single best comment I've heard from Heister all year.

"Nascar fans wait for a crash, hockey fans wait for a fight, and these fans wait for dunks like that."

Classic.

zagsfan21

Josh is 2 points and 1 rebound away from 30-10.

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 09:01 PM
Actually, he has the double-double. He was credited with two off. rebs on that last sequence. 2 points from 30-10.

Once and Future Zag
02-21-2009, 09:02 PM
The guys are looking focused and relaxed.

Reduced bad passes, closer defense at the 3 line, better aggressiveness on the boards...

zagsfan21
02-21-2009, 09:07 PM
Nasty one handed rebound by Daye!

Erica > Ehlo

Hands down.

I second that!

Baldwinzag
02-21-2009, 09:14 PM
So now Austin has ice on the ankle.

Apparently, it looked worse than it was...because it looked nasty. Glad to see he was able to play on it since I thought he was done for the season. He'll be sore, but should be able to go next Thursday.

very painful for a few minutes, but he was hopping on it with seemingly no problem toward the end of the contest after he returned from the locker room and, I presume, ice & a wrap.

This included drives to the net and stealing an inbounds pass and a fair amount of hopping around. No apparent residual damage, thank goodness.

Go Zags !
