Interesting. Jay Bilas has Patrick Mills as a third team All American in today's column. I don't want to quibble too much, as I think Mills is an incredible talent, but he makes much of Mills' stats to date. Hmmm.

MIN PTS REB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT%3P% PPS

Mills 33.6 19.5 2.5 3.6 3.1 1.19 2.4 .3 1.5 .413 .882 .323 1.22
Pargo 31.5 10.0 3.8 6.5 2.9 2.26 1.1 .2 1.5 .476 .706 .240 1.19

Not to mention the comparison of competition. Seems like Jeremy should be getting some love from Jay too. All things considered, JP's line is at least as impressive.

This isn't meant as a dis on Jeremy, because I love him as the Zags' court general, but there's one stat not on the list: clutch. I'm not sure how Patty's doing overall in that category, but he did sink a last-seconf three against Santa Clara last week, something Jeremy has yet to do when put in the same position.

Mills is lightning quick, and I think there'll be a spot for him in the NBA... But, I don't think any PG can be an All-American when averaging only 3.6 assists/game with a 1.16 assist/TO ratio. Plus, his shot selection isn't so hot.

IMO, I think Greivis Vasquez is under-rated.

but I agree with Jay B here. Mills means WAY more to his team than Jeremy does. Without Mills, St. Mary's doesn't even come close to the Tournament.

His scoring and shooting are superior to Jeremy's. I think Pargo is really looking to pass this year and has become much more passive on offense and the opposite is happening in Moraga. Which is why he is getting the Bilas Love IMO!

Not to say that can't change in a weekend!

I like Vasques, great size and good at filling up all aspects of the stat sheet, but like Pargo, I would love to see his fg% higher!

Mills is 20 and won't turn 21 til August. He was 19 when he was playing in the Olympics and more than holding his own against NBA level opponents from several countries.

Pargo is 22 and turns 23 in March.

That's a significant difference.
