Barring the unforeseen ankle roll, stress fracture, cold-night, foul-trouble, off-court calamity that sometimes pops up and derails even the best teams, Gonzaga has the makings of a Final Four club.

And along the way, point guard Jeremy Pargo could play his way into contention for the Wooden Award as the college player of the year.


None of the Washington State players was interested in disputing the Zags’ lofty rankings Wednesday night after GU rolled to a 33-point second-half lead before easing back to a 74-52 win.

In fact, the word “great” was tossed around by several Cougars.
