Apparently this has become a new trend amongst cbb fans. Personally, I hate the term; there's no tradition for it and it just sounds either dumb or like someones trying to hard to be a trendy hipster. What say you? I tried to do the poll thingy but I guess we don't have that option anymore.

Here's a stupid thread about it on ESPN threads:

I have always been curious why anyone would be upset about what they call us...mid major...or whatever...it simply doesn't matter, at least to me...

It just bothers me, I dunno why, just does.

Btw, when you say that you, "could care less", that means that you could care less. I think you mean that you, "couldn't care less". Just sayin' ;)

I have no problem with the use of the term "Zaga" when folks are discussing Gonzaga or the Zags.

However, over the years I've gotten used to March newspaper headlines proclaiming GONE - ZAGA in mid to late March. I'm very hopeful I won't see that headline this season.

Gets on my nerves when people do that too.

Blame esssspin. They put Zaga up in the small box scores instead of Gonz or Zags.

well, we've certainly heard the "national" cbb audience call us much worth than that. i just don't see the stupidity or insult in anyone calling us "zaga". not really a big deal to me.

personally i like it. when i think of great teams with great history ZONA comes to mind. so zaga to me is another cool nickname for the team.

If we can have alternate jerseys, then we should be able to have alternate nicknames. Being ZAGA when we play ZONA seems like an appropriate, one-game occasion for the alternate nickname. If it goes well, maybe we trot it out again for another game later in the year.

Beats GON or GONZ as shown on some scoreboards.

For obvious reasons, I prefer they call us "America's Team" (wink)

I don't think that it is a problem.
