View Full Version : Regarding CBS TV scheduling

Section 116

Here's an excerpt from today's column by Michael Heistand:

"CBS' big prime-time bets go to well-known names in matchups projected to be close, such as No. 7 Indiana vs. No. 10 Gonzaga on Thursday, going to 64% of the households, and Kentucky-Villanova on Friday, slated for 50%."

The GU-IU game actually gets more national coverage than any other game, and was specifically chosen for a prime time broadcast.

Nice find, 116. Elsewhere in the article:

CBS, Aresco says, likes to "have some star power at night."

Gonzaga, admittedly not on its own with an admired opponent in Indiana, matches CBS' "star power" criteria.

Note also that in CBS' video lead-in to their tourney coverage, they maintain a clip of an Errol Knight flush - with "GONZAGA" clearly emblazoned across his chest.

All in all, yet more examples of the national draw that is, and national respect that has accrued to, the Gonzaga men's basketball program. Downright impressive.

If CBS thinks of GU so highly, I wish they would agree to televise a couple of Gonzaga non-conference games next season. Memphis would be a nice one.......
