Even though I'm also a big Bruin fan, I am only looking forward to our Zag game for this first round. Nothing else seems to matter right now. Bruins should be up next for us (if we survive) anyway.

In order of most looking forward to-ness:

7 Indiana vs 10 Gonzaga
7 Nevada vs 10 Creighton
8 Marquette vs 9 Michigan St.
7 Boston College vs 10 Texas Tech

* On paper BC should overwhelm Texas Tech due to superior size and athleticism; however, seeing how a very well coached TTech team can make up for lack of talent via execution, smarts and willpower is always fun to behold....especially when it's not against Gonzaga!

besides the GU game -

Davidson vs Maryland

why?

Because it's the 1st game tomorrow and that means the tourney has started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(BTW, is it just me or does it seem like the Terps, when in the tourney, get the early Thursday monring slot almost all the time?)

...WSU vs. Oral Roberts. A lotta negative comments toward WSU's chances on Sunday's bracket shows (CBS, ESPN), seemed to me, which provokes Kiddwell to proclaim, "Get 'em, Cougs! Beat 'em with a stick!"

I want to pick WSU to wina few, but there's this little voice in the back of my head that keeps saying, "They didn't coin the phrase 'Couging it' for nothing."

My upset picks have changed. This bracket is a tough one. I guess because the committee either did an incredibly poor or incredibly good job seeding. There are just too many match-ups even in the 5-12's & 6-11's where a highly suspect BSC school is just ripe for the plucking by some cavalier small program.

I've found the best way to keep myself in check is to pick the upsets, then play them through the next couple rounds to see who's in the Elite 8. If I have entirely too many weak seeds sitting on the lines playing for their shot at the Final Four, then I know I need to kick some kids to the curb.

Right now I have the following teams pulling the upset:

- Old Dominion (loses in 2nd Round to Maryland)
- Winthrop (loses in 2nd Round to Oregon)
- Villanova (loses to Southern Ill. in S16)
- Wright State (loses to Duke in 2nd round. I like them beating Pitt, it's losing to Duke I'm unsure about.)
- Gonzaga (loses to Southern Ill. in E8, if UCLA can go down to UW and Cal we can definitely beat them)
- Long Beach State (loses in 2nd Round to Virginia)

That's everybody in the first round.

I'm most excited for the GU game, the WSU game, and the Old Dom game.

My final four are: Florida, Southern Illinois, Georgetown, and Ohio St.
