I am only to half time, so don't give anything away!! haha. I just saw on my phone that the game is over, so I'll start the thread and post my GUnit when I'm done.

Talk to yall in a bit.

and team "D"

Micah had a great first half, but I thought Daye was the best player on the court - hard to argue with Micah though. Impressed with Meech and Pargo also and Poling gets an honorable mention for that shirt and tie.

11-18-2008, 08:46 PM
Mine is Coach Giac. Ever since he has arrived here the team D has been steadily improving. The defense tonight was awesome.

11-18-2008, 08:46 PM
Fun first half to watch. Great basketball played by the whole team, but Micah was fantastic.

11-18-2008, 08:48 PM
Micah was wonderful!

Micah Downs. Not just for scoring, but for hard defense and lots of energy.

11-18-2008, 08:50 PM
MIcah for thrrrrreeeeeee!

11-18-2008, 08:51 PM
As good as Austin played (particularly at a couple of stretches), Micah's gotta be the GUnit. I think dominant is the word.

11-18-2008, 08:53 PM
M I C A H ! ! !

11-18-2008, 08:54 PM
Downs. Dude set the tone for the game and didn't let up. He did it everywhere, from 3, in the lane, put backs, rebounds, steals.

11-18-2008, 08:55 PM

11-18-2008, 08:58 PM
Best I have ever seen him play!!!

11-18-2008, 09:00 PM
Woohoo: you didn't even need to wait until the end of the game---half time would have been appropriate to post this thread.

MD. All the way. No questions asked. Feel free to tally the votes now.

11-18-2008, 09:07 PM

Austin deserving mention, but still Micah.

Josh for a mention also, but still Micah.

11-18-2008, 09:09 PM
Micah, no question!!

11-18-2008, 09:11 PM

11-18-2008, 09:12 PM
Micah for setting the tone early on both offense and defense

11-18-2008, 09:20 PM
Great all around game

11-18-2008, 09:25 PM
Downs played as well as I have ever seen him play.

Micah without a doubt!!! This guy played the best that I have seen him play. The D was incredible. Meech was all over the floor. I like how Few put it, he is just a pest. This year is going to be fun to watch!!

11-18-2008, 09:29 PM
Drum roll, please ....

Downs. He showed a little (or a lot) of everything in that first half.

11-18-2008, 09:36 PM
Downs, no question. Keep it up buddy.

Meech was honorable mention. I could see that kid NOT withdrawing from the draft his junior year.

Heytvelt has also pretty much (re)proven his dedication, intensity and athletic ability.

For me, this game was an overall confirm of the the hype. Can't wait for Thanksgiving.

11-18-2008, 09:41 PM
I literally fell asleep on the couch at halftime, but from what I saw, AUSTIN DAYE gets my vote.

11-18-2008, 09:48 PM
Micah Downs

11-18-2008, 09:51 PM
I hate to break up a perfect game, but unfortunately there are 2 halves to a game. Micah had a poor 2nd half imo. 2 pts. And was looking for HIS points TOO often, imo. I think Few felt the same way and benched him. :D

Daye on the other hand was the steady hand throughout, along with Pargo. I love Dayes game. 16 pts and 7 boards, and 2 steals on the press, and a blocked shot. Plus he had a couple assists to Josh off the high low offensive set, which is a GU trade mark. It was good to see him playing that high post so well. Plus he can shoot from there. Daye has an all-around game, imo. Im also not saying Down didn't play a very good game because he did. I just don't think he played better than Austin.

Honorable mention, Matt Bouldin. I am also going to say something positive about Matt Bouldin too....In many ways Matt is really making some huge sacrifices to his offensive game and he appears to be doing it well. I really like his game right now. He is making good passes (most of the time when he's not being lazy). He's looking to pass first. But mostly, man his defense was really good tonight in that first half. And he is hitting his 3's. I think he has found his shot. Don't be surprised to see him stepping it up in the Old Spice Classic. He tends to have his best games against better opponents. This is the most praise I've ever given Matt. Very good game Matt.

Mr. Downs again!!!!

11-18-2008, 10:37 PM
Micah! Wow!

If he could focus and maintain the level of energy and effort he displayed this evening we become a legitimate three headed monster with a heck of a supporting cast.

Magnificient effort on defense by the entire team.

It was really fun to watch tonight.

Go!! Zags!!!

11-18-2008, 11:14 PM
I too will have to go with our Burger Boy, Downs

11-19-2008, 02:29 AM
Tough one between Downs and Daye....Downs.

Honorable mention to Jeremy Pargo....Folks, Jeremy's assists are much bigger than you think. What they have done is let the other players know that they are all targets. Jeremy's leadership and unselfish play make this team MUCH better. Jeremy's occasional BURST to the hoop still keeps the opposing players honest....I think the all-time assist record is gonna be history! He isn't to shabby at rebounding either.

11-19-2008, 05:18 AM
I say Mr. Bouldin. Matt is IMO, along with Pargo, really setting the tone for the entire team by playing smart, intense ball on both ends. It does appear the entire team is getting it together, we'll find out next week just how far they have come. Go Zags.

11-19-2008, 06:43 AM
Micah -- he has arrived! Break out year for Micah, WCC MVP on the way.

11-19-2008, 07:28 AM
McCown had a hell of a game about 10 years ago.... oh wait that was the UCLA/OSU game that FCS played.

There, I vented, I'm going go with Micah although I could have been swayed to Daye. If I had actually been able to WATCH it, I may have had a different opinion.

Definitely Downs.....

11-19-2008, 07:50 AM
Have to go with Downs, he played great in the first half.

Honorable mention to Pargo and Bouldin, I freakin' love the way they run this team. Those two are the reason guys like Downs, Daye and Heytvelt shine for us.

11-19-2008, 08:43 AM
Why not....I will go with Downs.

11-19-2008, 09:18 AM
Downs, without a doubt. Daye was close but I've never seen Micah play better.

I hate to break up a perfect game, but unfortunately there are 2 halves to a game. Micah had a poor 2nd half imo. 2 pts. And was looking for HIS points TOO often, imo. I think Few felt the same way and benched him.

I have to disagree with you here. While he may not have been shooting as well, I don't think he was benched for this. imo he was benched because we were up by about 40 points the entire half. It was nice to see Sorenson get another 3 though.

11-19-2008, 09:59 AM
I'm down with Micah. Loved Daye's game too, with a couple steals off the pressure, deflected shots, midrange game. I'm wondering if we don't give Daye enough credit because he makes it look so easy.

11-19-2008, 02:59 PM
The Doctor is in the house!!!!!!!

11-19-2008, 03:34 PM
Mr. Micah Downs.

The Doctor is in the house!!!!!!!

Tally this puppy up woohoo.

11-19-2008, 06:57 PM
Wait! One more for Micah!

11-19-2008, 07:15 PM
I've already voted, but this thread must not fade into obscurity before I post just one great pic of Micah from last night's game, with the incomparable #13 Luciano de Souza, of the exceedingly skinny legs and the fabulous hair:

I love this game!
