Manny is a high energy player with a great competitive streak," Few said. "His skill level is something to be excited about. He has a great opportunity to be effective for us at both ends of the court."

Manny is also ranked at #80 in the 2009 Rivals.com top 150. That ranking was assigned after recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer saw Arop play in just one tournament.

Great news, ever since he appeared on my radar (Canadian Under 15 tournament 2005) I hoped that he would play D1 and get the chance to represent his country, now he will be doing both.

I reckon by the end of next summer he will end up with a higher ranking than 80!

GU has a lot of great recruits, but man do I like Manny - he just seems like a type of player the team hasn't really had. Something special for sure!

This is a great day. A rebounding guard with a sweet stroke and a knack for scoring.

Welcome Manny!

Yes Akzag, he does need a nickname. I'm think "Ice Age" Manny was the big Elephant thing. Uh, what are they? Mastidones? In the Movie. Young, Ice in his veins. "Ice Age"

Reload, Reload, Reload. No worries. After this season it will only get easier.

Besides getting a great player, from all accounts, GU is also getting a great kid. I remember a story in which Manny stressed the importance of an education and being around good people. Glad you are a Zag, Manny.

Nickname:
"Magic-Man" First you see him, then you don't.
Anybody who can name the movie that nickname comes from earns my eternal respect.

By the way, I came up with "The Stache" for Ammo during the first game of his Junior year. I'm not taking credit for it, because I know I'm not the only one who did, but I didn't hear it on tv until a couple of weeks later.

How about "MMMMMrrrrropppppp" a la Beastie Boys. Kind of a tough nickname, but would be a great cheer for the student section after an and-one.

With all the heat and fire going on down here, I was inspired and came up with a nickname for Manny.

How about Manny "the Volcano" Arop? Or simply, "The Volcano Arop"
