The organizers of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic do everything possible to make certain their regional site hosts make it to Madison Square Garden. This whole tournament is likely to culminate with a November 21 matchup between Duke and UCLA. That would be a lot of fun to watch.

Butler wrecked their plans one season as they rolled through Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Gonzaga.

Were the Zags a regional host that year? They ended up in the final against Butler.

That was the preseason NIT (the tournament where GU beat UNC and GU lost to Butler).

Gardner Webb beat Kentucky last year in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, so things can certainly happen that the organizers don't anticipate. BTW, the four regional hosts for this year's tourney are Duke, UCLA, Southern Illinois and Michigan.

We were a host in that Preseason NIT, though. Zags beat Rice and Baylor in Spokane.

Those 2 games produced some of the nicer Josh dunks we saw that year, really... Ahhh, memories... :) Hopefully we'll be seeing some more like those this year!!
