Given that we were a 10 seed with the automatic bid, does that suggest the committee would have put in the dance even if we had lost to SC. Just wondering.

For eample Stanford got an 11 seed as an at large "bubble team"

Thoughts?

Stanford is the biggest suprise of the brackets for me. I think they realllllly lucked out at the expense of Drexel and Air Force. Too bad.

Sorry - forgot what thread I was on - didn't mean to hijack...so...I bet we would NOT have gotten the at large, even though we would have deserved it over Stanford.

It seems like Santa Clara really crapped the bed at the end of the season. Down the strech, I dont think any loss wouldve been excusable in the committee's eyes.....and we were low on the bubble already

Would the Zags have gotten an at large berth?

IMHO, no.

(but we'll never know for sure, will we?)

I agree, no way, with teams that got left out.

The committee fell in love with the BCS schools again. Only 6 mid majors is bad for college basketball. Complete crap to leave out AirForce and Drexel and put Illinois and Arkansas in...but just my opinion.

I think the answer is a firm maybe. The #10 seed shows that we were clearly in the tournament. There are no bubbles at ten. The problem is that to be an at large team we would have had to lose the WCC title game. It would have been very close.

ps How nervous was Stanford to have to wait until the last game was announced to know its fortune? (and Cardinal vs Cardinals, the committee did that on purpose, right?)
