...on this year's team, who would it be?

I'm torn between Batista/Violette for the strength and rebounding, and Erroll Knight for his ability to defend anybody on the floor.

Batista....based on college performance. If Stockton played as good at GU as he did in his prime with the Utah Jazz, he would be my guy.

JP for me as well ... he was overshadowed during his two years here - Ronny then Ammo, but he was as solid and consistent as it gets.

JP Batista, hands down. A starting5 of:

PG: Pargo
SG: Gray
SF: OKD
PF:Batista
C: Heytvelt

would be the best starting5 in college basketball.

Adam Morrison. He would come up with the points when the team needs them most.

He might upset the chemistry a bit, but his will to win trumps it. This is a good Zag team, but do they have anyone that will put their heart and soul into it like Adam did?

We saw how Ammo left it all on the floor in his last game as a Zag. I want the current guys to want it as bad as Ammo did. I want to see them hate to lose as much as Ammo did.

Ditto Batista. As I look at the lofty expectations for this talented team, can't help but note that GU lacks proven interior toughness and scoring. Hopefully Sacre is the real deal and improved a lot of the summer. That's a lot of ifs ...

No question - J.P. A big, tough beast inside is exactly what this team is missing. J.P.'s relative lack of athleticism wouldn't even matter because the rest of the team is so athletic. He would just dominate the paint, suck in boards, and score when we needed him.

Roney Turiof............

and I'm quite surprised he hasn't gotten more votes
He may soon be a star in the NBA, which JP is not
And Roney's personality is what this team could use.
I think he and Pargo together would be so exciting, and exciting basketball is what I like.......I think Roney has best typified what the heart of a Zag is.

JP Batista. Solid, low post scorer in the half court offense. We could use one of those.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but Batista would be the best by far. You have to trust this years scoring potential, which is why J.P. beats out Adam Morrison. Don't forget J.P.'s 90% free throw shooting percentage.

After those two, gosh, i'd just take Pendo back for his glue like abilities.

He may not have the offensive skills that JP had, but he sure could protect the rim.

If we didn't already have so much talent at the wing it would be Ammo.

Batista would fill a big void though. JH clearly doesn't think of himself as a 5 and seems more comfortable to me at the 4, especially against big, physical centers.

A no brainer, IMHO, based on our needs ... Batista!

I wish I were more motivated to spend the time searching, but I most definitely recall posting, right as Ammo and JP were leaving, that we would most likely end up missing JP more than Ammo. I still stand by that. We have really missed having an anchor in the middle that could bail the rest the team out when everything else failed. Big shoes for Dower to fill, but I would be estactic if he were half as efficient.

Maybe ZN can get some time with him and start teaching him the Rosary for starters!

Basista? Am I the only one who remembers him turning the ball over with a bad pass in a game that was all but won?

Always take the Hall of Famer. Stockton without a doubt.
