2007-08 Resume: 25-8, lost to Davidson in 1st round of NCAA Tournament
The 'Zags return nearly their entire team — starting guards Jeremy Pargo, who decided to return after testing the waters, and Matt Bouldin as well as big men Josh Heytvelt and Austin Daye. Toss in Micah Downs and give big-time shooter Steven Gray a full season, and Mark Few's team has all the pieces to be among the nation's elite next season. The 'Zags also add a solid three-man freshmen class that includes a pair of hard-nosed guards in Demetri Goodson and Grant Gibbs as well as talented big man Andy Poling.

As I pointed out in the other thread, there is a poll down the page a little bit asking who should be number 2. We only have 8%!

Get out and vote!

Pre-season rankings can be such poor crystal balls as the seasons are underway, that the breaking news of our #9 ranking was something I buried in this post.

But as long as there's a popular vote, or auction, on numbers ... why settle for #2? :D

up to 18% ...

In honor of Jeremy's return, it would only be fitting to vote (http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/8253908/Tar-Heels-stand-as-national-title-favorite-in-) Chicago-style - early and often.

Gotta love the five preseason. I'm always happy when we top ucla on anything. Hope we aren't overrated and end up dissapointing ourselves with such high hopes but it gives some excitement for the summer months.

I know preseason polls don't amount to much, but I do appreciate that the Zags are ranked in the top 25, AND two WCC teams are included in the 15 more to watch. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come in the WCC.

I actually like this one much better than the one posted for ESPN/MTV. Though I have to wonder what Puke Duke is doing in this. The Duke post presence was weak last year, weaker this year.

Expect the unexpected when it comes to preseason top 10 lists. I honestly don't have a clue who the #2 team is. It could be up to 12 different teams. Only North Carolina at #1 is a sure thing.

We all get too wrapped up in it. Of course there isn't much else to focus on. Nonetheless, all this speculation is in line with my own thinking, provided that the Josh who dominated Tyler Hansborough shows up, and the team avoids the mental lapses and sissy play that characterized them last year. And I use that term purposely. They all need to focus less on themselves and more on the team.
