UCLA, so will they take him and Stover?

"Brendan Lane, a power forward out of Rocklin High of Fresno, committed to UCLA today.
``I wanted to play at a big-time school with the chance to win a national championship and learn defense from a coach like Ben Howland,'' Lane told Tim Haddock"

This is from the inside UCLA blog.

This could be good for us in our pursuit of Honeycutt and Stover. As it has been mentioned, UCLA cant take every 4 and 5 star PSA on the west coast.

Whole heartedly agree. I didn't see this commitment coming. That's as good a new story as I've heard in a while. I was thinking he'd head to BYU.

Any idea how many open scholarships the Bruins will have available next year? They appear to be our biggest obstacle when it comes to landing the recruits we have targeted for next year.

It depends on what Alex Stephenson ends up doing. If he ends up at UCLA then that takes up another scholorship. The only 2 seniors I can think of at UCLA are Collison and Aboya for next season, unless Luc returns. And they already have Nelson and Lane committed. At most I would expect them to have 1 or 2 more openings, which could be Lance Stephenson or any other highly ranked player

This, combined with Reeves Nelson, has to bode well for Honeycutt or Hill and Gonzaga. Not sure if it'll affect Stover. Lane likes the perimeter.

UCLA will likely have 4 seniors and maybe even 5. Josh Shipp, Mike Roll, Darren Collison, Alfred Aboya, and perhaps, Luc Mbah a Moute if he returns to school. They also have the scholly that was used by Chace Stanback. Westbrook and Love as you know are likely staying in the draft.

I think they have 5 available rides. With two of them already claimed, they have three to give out, unless Stepheson takes a ride. Then they will likely take some Wings. I don't think they will take Stover.

Well I completely blanked on Shipp, however, I thought they were trying to get this past season to be a redshirt year for Roll since he missed nearly the whole season.

Hmmm that maybe a possibility. Was he out the entire season? Edit: Roll played in six games for them. How many do they allow you to play in and still redshirt, and would the Bruins really want to redshirt him at this point?
