Interesting that they've got Hollis Thompson at #32 (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/espn100?season=2009&display=all&set=0) and no Tyler Honeycutt in the Top #100. In Greg HIcks ranking of the top west coast small forwards (http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/760882.html) a couple of days ago, he had Honeycutt as best in the west, with Thompson one behind him.

This morning on the Scout Hoops Recruitng Forum (http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=75#s=75&f=1043&t=2562991), I saw this exchange between a poster and Scout's Evan Daniels:

gozags03: I saw that Honeycutt was at the top of the list of the West Coast rankings. As a Gonzaga fan, i really hope to see him in a uniform come 2009. I was wondering what the chances are of him in coming to Gonzaga and will he be a five star player, when the new rankings come out? I saw that Hollis Thompson is a five star and Honeycutt was above him in the West Coast rankings.

Evan Daniels: I respect Greg's rankings, but from my viewings, it'd be tough to put Honeycutt over Hollis Thompson. I do, however, like Honeycutt a lot, as he has great size, shoots it well and is versatile. It's still early to talk about our new lists, and Honeycutt could make a jump, but I'd be surprised if it was to five-star status. As a side note, Scout currently has Honeycutt as a four-star.

I am gozags03. I am the one that posted that. It was weird that he was the #1 strong forward, and not a five star. They, as expected, avoided the question and said that he was good.:)

I think the term should stick, makes a lot of sense when you think about it. There are point forwards, combo guards, why not strong forward? Batista could be labeled as a strong forward?! :)

Has anyone heard if we're after Emmanuel Negedu, a big recently relased from AZ? I still have someone's (I think BZ) comment on my mind that Few was close to nabbing a BCS school big man.

edited to add the "on my mind" part oops and why I'm at it, GO ZAGS!!!

Interesting. The list has changed quite a bit since I posted. Honeycutt and Hill both making the cut now. I guess there must have been some immediate and influential feedback upon its release.

Abdul Gaddy -- 14
Avery Bradley -- 49
Tyler Haws -- 63
Tyler Honeycutt -- 70
Anthony Stover -- 77 (biggest slide since yesterday)
Solomon Hill -- 78
Anthony Marshall -- 92

Not much Haws talk as of late -- anyone know his status?

Looks like he will most likely be attending BYU. Father went their and he lives close to the campus. As soon as BYU offers him he will be on his way. He's good, but we don't need a player at that position. If we do get one at the SG spot, i would want to shoot for Dotson. We are the closest school from where he lives according to his top 5. If we try to go after him we can probably get him.

I'm hoping for Burton, Honeycutt, and a new favorite Bak, to go along with Arop. With Downs and maybe Daye leaving, we should go after Marshall, Dower, or Dotson. Anyone of those three would be nice to go along with my dream class of '09.

Sorry i forgot about Solomon Hill, he would be a great get. I see him heading to Texas. He just looks like a perfect fit for there system, but i would love to have him though.

I believe Gonzaga has stopped recruiting Haws.

Negedu is a wonderful talent but the Zags were never involved and are not in it for him.
