    Pangos Camp: Day 1

Class of 2009 forward Corey Stern already has one school decision behind him. The 6-foot-6 forward is making the move from Colorado to Seattle to attend Rainer Beach High School, he said. He'll be taking a school list that consists of offers from Colorado and Colorado State while Washington State, Gonzaga, Utah, Utah State, Boise State and Washington.

Joe Burton, the wide-bodied center from Hemet (Calif.), has a great set of hands that can catch just about anything and latches on to rebounds within in his area.

Anthony Brown, SG – We liked what we saw from Brown in our first look. The 6-foot-4 baby faced wing has a smooth looking jump shot and managed to knock a three-pointer and a few mid-range jumpers. We’d like to see him tighten up his handle and keep his head up in traffic, but the long, lean prospect appears to be a guy tracking at the high major level. We also hear that Brown is young for his age and has big time grades.

Anthony Brown is planning to attend camps at Arizona, Texas, UCLA and USC. To go with interest from those four schools, he said he’s also heard from Arizona State, Washington, Gonzaga, Stanford and San Diego.

[Hoping to get a school list for Burton and others this weekend.]

If the staff is truly interested in Corey Stern, then they should have a big advantage because he attended Thunderigde high school in Colorado....which is the same school as Matt Bouldin. Never hurts to have that going for you

Having seen Stern play on TV a number of times, this move really puzzles me. He does not nearly have the talent level or skill set that Bouldin had at his time at Thunderidge. Bouldin was king of Colorado hoops for a couple years at T-Ridge and had plenty of exposure across the country. Maybe Stern realizes that his best options lie in the Northwest and he wants to be closer to his potential suitors.

If anything this just shows how woeful Colorado high school basketball has gotten. Aside from Billups, Fazekas, and Sean Ogirri, I can't think of many excellent high school players to come out of the state. But I guess we did produce Bouldin and "Big Sexy" Richard Fox...

P.S. Could Burton fit what Gonzaga needs any more? He's enormous and can catch the basketball. We struggled with interior passing SO much this year. Sign the big fella up now. He would be an asset, every report I come across makes me want him that much more

        Soft hands = Batista
Catches just about anything = Batista
Latches on to rebounds = Batista

        Git him, Zags.

Brief blurb about 2010 Anthony brown in Scout's Pangos Day 1 report:
Anthony Brown, 6-5 JR SG Ocean View (Calif.) High. Continues to show signs that he’ll be among the elite wings in 2010 when it’s all said and done. High skill level and body is starting to fill out just a bit.
Wow! That may be the first time I've seen him referred to without mentioning "baby-faced!"

Thanks for fleshing that out. How great to have options and opportunities to make it happen.
