    Not in the mix for top recruits

    With the late signing period coming to an end, Antonio Williams ranks ESPN.com's top 25 2008 basketball recruiting classes.

    Article from espn/scouts puts us out of top 25 for recruiting class.

    Thanks Zero. I think Meech and Andy would fall more into the sleeper catagory. Meech really came on too late didn't really get the attention he is will ultimately get. Grant broke his wrist and kept his ratings down. Andy's up and down swing was touched on in an earlier thread so I won't rehash it here. But they are all sleepers. Bol is also not considered in those ratings.

    The agruement could be made that we were really right in there with Vandy. Remeber the staff chose Grant overTinsley. Were right in there with Jeff Taylor and took Bol after that was decided.

    Two years from now our group will surprise some people.

      I think the peolpe who will be suprised will be us. After Meech who possibly is actually underrated I don't think this class is very good. Lets face facts not every class can be like last yrs. Everyother yr is fine by me.

        agreed. A good team needs role players, too.

        OT: I'm far from an expert, but the UW class seems a bit overrated to me. Could be wrong.

          No doubt the 07 recruits were quite good, especially Austin Daye. I haven't seen the 08 guys play in person. ESPN rates 08 recruits pretty well and certainly not a big drop from 09. Here's ESPN's comparison;

          Demetri Goodson PG #11 88 rating
          Grant Gibbs Point PG #23 84
          Andy Poling PF #36 80

          Austin Daye SF #4 91 Rating
          Steven Gray SG #25 88 Signed
          Robert Sacre C 82

          While a little lower, still very solid especially given the circumstances each worked through their senior year.
