View Full Version : (Photo & Song) : The Legend of Pendo ???

(Thanks for the inspiration from the "mountain-man" reference in another thread.)

(The Ballad of Davy Pendo)

Hustle and grit like you never did see.
Fights for loose balls, and battles amongst trees.
A true Bulldog, you will agree......
Could block-out a Grizzly, then drill a big '3.'

Davy, Davy Pendo
The King of the Zag Frontier.

Dives on the floor, keeps the ball in-bounds.
Knocks you on your ass, then helps you off the ground.
Picks his team up, when their energy gets down.
Nothin' too flashy, his whole game is sound.

Davy, Davy Pendo
The King of the Zag Frontier.

Has a work-ethic all opponents dread.
Easy to spot, with his fiery head.
Wants every board, like a BEAST unfed,
Try to outwork him, you'll be seein' red.

Davy, Davy Pendo
The King of the Zag Frontier.

Waz, you're crazy. Keep it up!

Did you make it to the game on Monday night and get any pics???

I regret that I wasn't there in person. I didn't have the sources to secure a ticket during the day (working), and went with the sure-thing of watching the game at a friend's house.....on time.

How easy was it to get tickets on Monday morning?

For me, watching the game and taking pics are 2 separate things, anyway. Pics are like work, and I would have missed some great plays.

Still, it was a missed opportunity.

Exactly why I like the Waz. he brings a notepad to a gamewatch at a bar to keep stats. he's a mix-master. A photo-shop artist. A genuine full-tilt Zag crazy.

Waz- any way you can make a screensaver out of that Pendo pic? Or, something similar? I'd like something creative for the ol' desktop as we approach the tourney

haha, nice Wazzag. Love that pic.

Great work. My only suggestion, that bear head should be a donkey head. ;)

This is excellent...EXCELLENT! My buddy and I were exchanging possible captions for that picture, most encapsulating the idea of Pendo being a wild mountain man that fed on hikers...but I like the Pendo Crockett reference better. Thanks for the laughs, man.

There's a program on a website called http://www.blockposters.com/

I took the original Pendo pic, blew it up to be about 4' by 6' and placed it on one of my classroom walls. Normally, this might catch students off guard, but my middle-schoolers know that their teacher is a Zag fan...a few even knew it was Pendergraft...ah, the joys of education.

Too bad I didn't teach math, or I could create a great probability lesson with March Madness a la CBS!

Thank you so much!!! I needed a laugh. Great work!

Somebody with some musical talent needs to record this song immediately.

Legend has it that Pendo shaves with a rusty tin can lid.

"Did I ever tell you about the time Pendo took me out to go get a drink with him? We go off looking for a bar and we can't find one. Finally Pendo takes me to a vacant lot and says, 'Here we are.' We sat there for a year and a half and, sure enough, someone constructs a bar around us. The day they opened we ordered a shot, drank it, and then burned the place to the ground. Pendo yelled over the roar of the flames, 'Always leave things the way you found 'em!'"

"He once punched a hole in a defender just to check the possession arrow."

Okay, these are swiped from my favorite SNL skit, but I thought it was fitting.

One time, on a scramble for a loose ball, Pendo couldn't tell who had the ball. So he just grabbed all the players from the other team, and threw them out on the floor, one-by-one, until he found the one with the ball. Then he drove in for a layup with the guy from the other team still holding the ball! They had to stop the game for 20 minutes while they untangled the poor guy from the net and got him into an ambulance.

I love it!

lol all the comments remind me of the "Chuck Norris Facts" that have been flying around for a while. You could so change them to like "Pendo counted to infinity - twice."

Haha. :)

Again, thanks to the other thread for the idea with the photo. They mentioned "killed a bear," and Davy Crockett immediately came to mind......and the first name matched.

I get plenty of ideas in my truck.
(Imagine a Fed-Ex man driving around, writing lines in a notepad at stoplights, taking pictures, and humming incoherently all day.........Yep, that's me.)
(I'm like a huge RAIN-MAN !!!!!)(I'm an excellent driver.)

(Someone should really make a song about this whole team. We have a few days to write.)

(sung to the tune of "Rawhide")

Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Though Mallon's ankle's swollen
Keep them Bulldogs rollin'
Bouldin's under the weather
But we'll win together
Wishin' Josh was by my side.
All the things I'm missin',
The rebounds, blocks and dissin',
Are coming from the the rest of the guys.

Drive 'em in, post 'em up
Post 'em up, drive 'em in
Drive 'em in, post 'em up
Dish 'em out, slam 'em in,
Slam 'em in, dish 'em out,
Dish 'em out, slam 'em in,

Keep movin', movin', movin'
Though polls're disapprovin'
Keep them Bulldogs movin'
Don't try to understand 'em
Just cheer and clap your hands and
Soon we'll be living high and wide.
My hearts calculatin'
That victory will be waitin',*
Be waitin' for this Gonzaga side.
