If you could choose one of the star players who went directly from high school to the NBA, to best help the Zags, who would it be?

1. Amare Stoudemire
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Kevin Garnett
4. Tracy McGrady
5. Dwight Howard
6. Lebron James

7. Lebron

I would have a tough time picking between Kobe and Howard, but I think for Gonzaga next year, I would take Dwight Howard. He's probably the best center in the nba right now. His only weakness is free throw shooting, but its not like you are counting on your center to hit 85% from free throw. I think he would dominate in the WCC like no other and probably leave a lot of the other players wide open for easy shots when he gets double and triple-teamed.

Garnett. He'd destroy college guys in the post and is the best defender in basketball.

Tough to pass on Kobe though.

Since the Zags need toughness, especially inside, I would have to say either Garnett or Howard. Between the 2, I would say Garnett because he has more offensive game. But couple years from now, I would no doubt pick Howard.

I'd take Garnett.

Dwight Howard. Clearly, he's more physically stronger and more developed than any other big man on any team the Zags would play. He'd literally be a man amongst boys. He's like a seven-foot version of Ira Brown.

Garnett.

Imagine having Austin Daye, a healthy Josh Heytvelt and Garnett along the frontline. Would anyone be able to get a shot off near the rim?

Lebron... not even a question.

He may be better than Jordan when all is said and done. In one year he'd take any team to the NC.

For the Zags, this upcoming season? Howard, without a doubt. For the record I'm starting to really dislike Lespn and the Traveliers.

Lebron...he could play virtually every position in the college game AND he does play them all amazingly well. PLUS he's team oriented and seems to be a nice guy. So Coach Few.....GO FIND US A LEBRON! Ya hear!!!!

now: Kobe

right out of high school: Lebron

It took Kobe a bit longer to find his groove in the NBA. Lebron hit the ground running (being on a terrible team didnt hurt)

Although, I think a bit man like howard might impact the game more than a wing/sg would.

I would take either of the two fairly recent big men who actually decided to come to Gonzaga -- and gave their commitment before deciding to turn pro at the last minute.

Johan Petro http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3951 and Ian Mahinmi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Mahinmii .

Either one of these guys would have helped. Thanks Ronny -- for your work in getting them close.

LeBron He is the most skilled basketball player for his age I've ever seen.
LBJ is unstoppable right now and he might even get better. Scary.

P.S. LeBron is 5 months younger than Adam.

I've gotta go with LeBron here. Yes, KG and Dwight are awesome, as is Kobe, but straight out of high school I don't think any of them were as good as James. Put him on any solid team in the country, and I think you would've had a national championship.

Can I just roll a dice to decide? Maybe a 6 headed coin?

I am shocked to not see one for Amare. When healthy he is a dominant player and would be my pick.

I rarely post but I've been a GU Boards junkie for years. I kept waiting for someone else to post this question but since they haven't I might as well venture into the water. Does anyone else wonder why BZ is asking this question? When BZ says he'd take Garnett and CDC asks us to "imagine having Austin Daye, a healthy Josh Heytvelt and Garnett along the frontline" I can't help but wonder if this is in any way related to our Bigs McGee 2 mystery. Is Bigs McGee 2 similar in some aspects to Garnett?
