coaches Lloyd and Giacoletti (sp?) walking around with a recruit. I was able to over hear that his name is Luca and hes from Serbia. Anyone have any idea who this kid is? Looked to be about a head taller than Giacoletti, fairly skinny.

Happy searching.

But he finished his soph year at Utah with less than stellar stats.

I highly doubt it considering he would not be eligible to play until the 2009 season. From my understanding, it was stated several times our "mystery man" would contribute immediately referring to next season.

As far as Luca is concerned, the Utes fandom wouldn't be sad to see him go as they have nicknamed him the Utah "choker". Not joking. Supposedly, Luca had an opportunity to win several games for the Utes last year if he could have hit his free throws. They lost all of those games. :(

There is nothing in the news about Luka Drca transferring from Utah. I don't think it's him.

mnzag24 = are you sure he's 6-5? Could he have been, say, 6-8 or so?

haha this mystery man is creating a love hate relationship for me already. Love that he will "contribute immediately" and be a huge get for GU, hate because I am losing study time looking for who this guy might be, as well as having this mystery take up all the capacity in my brain.

it was tough to tell. i put him about a head taller than coach G, so somewhere in that 6-5 to 6-8 range seems likely. 6-10 seems too tall. who's on your mind CDC?

I honestly don't have a clue as to the exact identity of the Serbian. But it's hard for me to see him as being anything other than a power forward type. That means 6-8, minimum.

Hmmm. CDC, are these clues to the "mystery man" puzzle?! Is if safe to assume the player is international, a power forward, and/or Serbian? I'm beginning to go crazy by overanalyzing every post concerning our new recruit. I know patience is a virtue, but the suspense is killing me.

How about this guy.....

He's a prized '08 recruit(check), from Serbia(check), and a PF(check). It shows he committed to Georgia, yet following our beatdown of Felton & Co., maybe he's had a change of heart?

Or this Serbian "big" who only "verballed" to Texas Tech. Considering the recent retirement of Coach Knight Sr., he could have backed out. The possibilities are endless....

I was sitting in the Jepson lobby this morning between classes and saw Coaches Lloyd and Giacoletti with this unknown recruit. Judging by the photos of Drazen linked to above, he seemed to be the guy.

As a frame of reference for his height, the recruit was only slightly shorter than the doors into Jepson. He could have walked through standing straight up (barely) but he ducked to go through.

Here's another mini-profile. This would definitely be a good catch but unsure how much of an immediate impact (other than a body) he would have.

Drazen didn't just commit to Georgia....he signed a letter of intent. There is nothing on the internet saying that he's asked out of his LOI...unless it's hidden in some secret premium forum.

He could still be the guy, but the odds are probably against it.

StandardZag, could the unknown recruit be the player featured in the profile below? Darko has yet to sign an official LOI and "verballed" to Texas Tech prior to Bobby Knight's retirement. Interesting....

Here is a link to the Serbian national basketball teams. There are a few huge guys on their U19 teams. The guy who was with Pendo yesterday had to be at least 6 foot 8 or 6 foot 9.

I don't know if any of these guys are the ones we are looking at but many of them are highly skilled and being looked at in the NBA draft. Guys like Macvan or Markovic fit the profile but I can't be sure.

There is also Nicola Kecman, who is a Serbian who fits being 6 foot 9 and he is currently at an Arizona Juco. He fits the "Juco Transfer" we are all looking for. Kecman is also receiving interest from Kentucky...interesting.

.... this will probably all work out for the best. I think once the staff recognized that JT wanted to play the guard position in college we were out. And we really don't need another guard with Goodson and Gibbs plus Gray, Bouldin, etc. What we need is a big and I have a feeling people on this board are getting alot warmer.....

... then again I have been wrong about most things so far in this ridiculous mystery.
