0-0 with 20 minutes to go in the 1st-half.

I hope the 2nd half is better...:lmao:

ZagPhD

Is it still 0-0? I didn't figure the game would be such a low-scoring affair.

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 06:12 PM
How much do you think we'll apply that full-court press that worked so well against USD last night? We're not applying it from the onset.

We still haven't learned how to guard SCU on the perimeter...:( The guys need to figure this out quick...

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 06:30 PM
I sure hope the Broncos cool off from the perimeter.

ZagAddict
03-05-2007, 06:33 PM
I said the same thing for 3/4 of the game in Spokane... "I hope they cool off from the perimeter". I'm right there with you saying it again...

RenoZag

SCU is hitting all of the open looks (it seems). . .looks like the SCU win at the MAC . . .Bryant is going to get away with murder tonight

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 06:37 PM
we're not fouling the 3-pt shooter, turning the ball over, or missing our free throws. Which is the only reason this is a 6-pt game. They'll cool off. They can't shoot 75% from the perimeter for 40 minutes. Knock on wood.

RenoZag
03-05-2007, 06:42 PM
Tie game under 4:00 in first half. . .Zags kept their poise.

Has the guts of a burglar. . .WOW !!

40 - 35 at the Half !!

20 minutes to go.

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 06:52 PM
That was my interpretation at least. Downs playing with great energy, but really forcing up some shots. I have a hunch that Raivio was yelling at him to keep his eyes open for his teammates.

JAGzag
03-05-2007, 06:55 PM
ZagPhD, I saw that too, he seemed really pissed at something - hopefully it's just a leadership thing and nothing more ...

AllezZags
03-05-2007, 06:55 PM
of course, I doubt they can shoot that well in the 2nd half. I think half #1 was their best shot. The Zags will need to set the tone in the first 5 of the 2nd half and stretch that lead.

Nevtelen
03-05-2007, 06:56 PM
Probably true. And he should. He's a good shooter, but not that good yet. Raivio has been on a tear. Keep it up DRav!! Man oh man I hope we can hold them to something more like the season avg behind the 3-pt line. And actually make something like our season avg from the stripe. Do that and we should be okay...

ZagAddict
03-05-2007, 06:57 PM
Does Few start Downs in the 2nd half? We seem to be a better team on both ends of the court when he is playing.

Tell us about...a clean steal? How's the rebounding for the good guys?

jazzdelmar
03-05-2007, 06:58 PM
.........with 3 mins to go in the half, it was clearly Raivio time...he's done that a lot......Downs chucked some up, but u hafta let him go........with Mallon and Kuso in the gm at the same time, only 3 Zags look to score......not a good combo....

SCU has one more rrbd than Zags

GU has 4 Turnovers, SCU has 10

Zags 5 of 8 FT; SCU 5 of 7

High intensity game on both sides; SCU is a fine team and will be hard to put away.

Nevtelen

Having 1 go-to guy, no matter who it is, makes this team loose. We need to be firing on all cylinders out there, where scoring could come from anywhere. Because it can, if everything is working right.

AllezZags
03-05-2007, 07:03 PM
Scorers do that. Micah is not there yet (as scorers go), and you have to look to DRAV right now since he is getting his shot when/where he wants it. Pretty soon SCU will concentrat on Derek and the lane will open up for some slashing by Micah.

I feel good about the 2nd half

RenoZag

Bryant's feet are looking like he's got cement in those size 18 boats.

( And as soon as I rag on him, he gets a great defensive play and a nice post up on Kuso. . .I better stop raggin' on 'em )

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 07:17 PM
and still knocked down the jumper from the free throw line...

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 07:23 PM
on the play when Bouldin hustled to get two tip-in attempts after a missed close-range jumper and then finally put in his fourth attempt - does he get three rebounds on the play? How are these scored typically?

ZagAddict
03-05-2007, 07:30 PM
SCU is in a drought right now, and the Zags aren't capitalizing:( We are playing great defense, but are cold on the offensive end of the court. SCU finally has locked down Raivio and none of the Zags have stepped up to score points...

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 07:33 PM
He is putting on a clinic with those touch passes on the fast break. Bouldin just picked up his fourth foul though...:(

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 07:35 PM
It looked fine on that dunk!! To quote Majerus, "I want GU's doctors working on me when I get injured."

ZagAddict

Jump ball at the 7:40 mark??? How does Pariseau get these calls from the officials... Pendo practically gave him a piggy-back ride:confused: At least the Zags have the possession arrow now;)

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 07:40 PM
He's been to the GU school of perimeter defense apparently.

ZagPhD

Pendergraft and Raivio could take on 1/2 of the teams in D-1 basketball 2 vs 5 and win with the success they've been having with that set.

ZagAddict
03-05-2007, 07:43 PM
Pendo has been Mr. Clutch for us in the WCC Tournament... a big 3 pointer!!!

I love having Raivio and his free throw shooting ability in the final 4 minutes of games... let's bring it home guys!!!

GO ZAGS!!!

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 07:59 PM
Just ice it from the line, fellas. Let Raivio show you how it's done.

And a-one. And a-two. Easy.

Free throws! You knew we'd be here

ZagAddict
03-05-2007, 08:03 PM
Missed free throws are keeping SCU in this game... Raivio needs to get to the ball because no one else is hitting free throws.

ZagAddict
03-05-2007, 08:05 PM
This is getting very uncomfortable for the Zags!!!

ZagPhD
03-05-2007, 08:08 PM
Big blocked shot. Exclamation point dunk. Whatever little tiff he and Raivio may have had earlier, is probably moot now. I wish he'd of hit those free throws though. Raivio should finish it up right here, right now.

Hats off to Davey on a great career at Santa Clara. He is an incredible coach and an incredible person. The WCC will miss him immensely.

Despite another weak showing from the line (especially down the stretch), we don't have to sweat it out next Sunday! Whew....

Way to go DRav! Stepping up and showing some Senior leadership. Pendo having another great game as well.

This team is so fun to watch now with everyone contributing. It's hard to describe but the combination of discipline (generally multiple passes before the shot and patience in the flex) and guys feeling free to let it rip seems to be working. And while it's small ball, some of our "smalls" like Downs and Pendo do great work on D and the boards. Bravo Zags!
