Which one is DeAngelo? Sorry if I seem not "with it."

I'm watching it in Boise right now. I just checked out his Scout rankings and he appears to be an unknown quantity. He was at Freeman last year??? Weird. HOw is Ferris' Stockton kid related to John? I thought John's kids were Pups.

That child be Stockton's brother's son. in other words, Stockton's nephew.

Tuck - DeAngelo is the 6-8 monster in the middle for Ferris.

Ah yes, the Ben Wallace lookalike. I remember seeing him while covering the RC, pretty good. Needs to work on his shot. But a good local prospect.

GU may not be too high on Casto if he can't cut it academically. Supposedly he has been walking a fine line staying eligible at Ferris

16pts. 12rebs. 7blks. 4assts. in Championship win. Had a couple blocks and clutch baskets at the end to seal the deal.

I stood next to him at the game - I would say he is closer to 6' 7'' or maybe a tad less. He is a work in progress - not sure he is ZAG material.

Castro was not impressive at all.

16pts. 12rebs. 7blks. 4assts

LOL.... Dont you think you are being hard on the 16 year old? I saw a TON of potential. He will be even better as a Senior.

Stockton is a leader...very good court management. Very composed for a young guy.

Congrats Ferris on the State title!

Sometimes people lose focus on maturity, and as far as academically, that hasn't stopped Gonzaga before. I recall a few being low on Pargo because he did not take the SATs, and now he seems to be fine.

They say he transfered to Ferris from a place called Freeman, where is that. The kid has some potential. Looked a bit lazy at times and looked like an absolute monster at other times. I guess that is typical with a lot of teenagers.

Freeman is south of Spokane 20 minutes or so. He is actually a pretty good story. He is originally from St. Louis and was adopted and the family moved him here.

On another note, Steven Gray and Bainbridge won last night and wrapped up the number one seed at state. Gray scored 18 in a low scoring affair.

Freeman is just south of the Ferris high school boundaries. If your familiar with the Spokane area it encompasses the area along the Hangman Valley golf course and east through Valleyford. A lot of the good athletes from that area have transferred to either Ferris or U-High over the years.

Chew on this one: much as G-Prep isn't Shawn Stockton material, I'm not sure the Zags are DeAngelo material.

How can anyone be critical at all of Casto -- a junior in high school who just led his team to the State title? He played virtually an entire 2-O.T. game with a pretty talented 260-pound guy banging on him all night. Think about it! And still at crunch time in the 2nd O.T. he made a game-winning dunk in traffic and then blocked 2 shots. The guy has talent and will obviously keep improving. His downright glee in the post-game TV interview was totally refreshing. Whether he becomes a GU prospect or not, criticism is in my opinion, way out of line. Way to go Saxons!

I completely agree SDGZ.
Casto showed a lot of heart out there tonight. He was a monster on defense and had a beautiful drop step for a hoop in OT. He also appears to be a nice kid.
Adults can say the darndest things.

BTW. Casto and Stockton 1st team, Karstetter 2nd, and they're all juniors.

I second your comments. Plus, if these snide commentators had seen his game against a very athletic Franklin team where he went 10 for 10 or something like that they might actually shut up...or something.

Agreed. It was real nice seeing that. A lot of joy and satisfaction coming from him. I thought it was cool, even if the result of the game made me....

I have heard zilch about GU being interested in Castro. Doesn't mean that it'll always be the case....

Like with GoneZawGa, some of you guys need to notice that his name is Casto, not Castro. By the way, he has a brother still playing on the Freeman team.

I thought his interview was interesting, and wish it had been longer. I've read elsewhere that Gonzaga, WSU, and Oregon State are all tracking him.

First of all, it is Casto, not Castro.

Why Ferris and not G-Prep for Shawn Stockton? The word is that his father Steve Stockton does not like playing second fiddle to younger brother John. Steve supposedly is still angry that he got cut from G-Prep basketball as a senior 30 years ago, if you can believe that. Grandpa Jack Stockton (of Jack & Dans) is still ticked off that Steve's kids went to Ferris, going so far as to once say they should put "Judas Iscarot" on their jerseys.
