Itís not official and probably wonít be until next week. But Iíve confirmed that the West Coast Conference tournament will move to a neutral site next year.

And itís the best neutral site of all.

Vegas, baby.

The wife and I love Las Vegas. She is also a huge Zag fan.

Won't be hard to talk her into this one :)

Can't bear the thought of Las Vegas, much less the sight of that crass symbol of greed and artificiality. That being said, my wife and I will be there for the tournament.

Just to temper the emotions here. It still needs to be approved by the WCC that will not happen until at best this weekend. The rumblings are that its likely to happen though.

The Zags need to stop being the PG-13 guy that everyone is rooting for and be that Rated R guy you aren't too sure if you like or not.

Vegas? Boo. Bad idea.

1. San Diego and Bay Area are much more attractive destinations for traveling zags fans, IMO.
2. What venue would they use? UNLV's arena is way too large, and the Caesars sports arena isn't finished yet?
3. the rotation is working.

I'll have to. I won't have a choice.

see link in first post to find the answer:

the Orleans Casino/Hotel Arena

I guess the argument could be made that this particular arena could be used w/o actually having to step into a casino. So if someone wanted to attend the games but has something against gambling, they could still attend...

Agreed that as far as we can tell, it still isn't approved, but there sure are a lot of rumblings...

I'll add this:

Part of the argument against holding the tourney off campus was it would cost too much $. I would have to think that this news from a few weeks back has to help with that concern:

GEICO Signed As WCC Championships Sponsor (http://guboards.spokesmanreview.com/showthread.php?t=9310)

San Diego and the Bay Area are without doubt more attractive places to visit.
However the site of the tournament has got to be either an earned home court or neutral site. Having the tourney at Santa Clara or USD year after year with a token visit to the Northwest just doesn't cut it. The home court advantage is just too big. If our tournament is to be taken seriously the location has to be basketball logical not tourist logical. I'm fed up with the Santa Clara Invitational which is turning into the San Diego Invitational.
The Orleans Hotel has an arena that seat around 7000 and will be perfect for the WCC tourney.

Don't forget about the availability and often lower cost of flights for all concerned. They have an In and Out Burger in Vegas too.

How strange. I have spent my share of time and money in Vegas, but it is not the kind of place I equate with GU, the WCC, or their carefully cultivated image of squeaky-clean, values-oriented, religious-affiliated schools. But, the idea of giving GU students and fans the opportunity to combine the WCC tournament with gambling and pole-dancers ("what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas") sounds like something that a lot of folks will enjoy.

Whatever.

I've heard of pole-sitters back in the day, 75. What's a pole-dancer?;)

I believe that the last pole dancer I met from Colville did look a lot like the woman on the right. But maybe that was just the beer talking.
