View Full Version : Best of luck tomorrow to our friends at Winthrop

Winthrop plays VMI tomorrow for the Big South championship. They should have very few problems...VMI has a losing record, the game is at Winthrop, and the Eagles handled them both times in the regular season with relative ease.

The game is at 11am on ESPN.

I think the Eagles have a chance at the sweet 16 this year.

It will be very interesting to see where the Eagles are seeded this year. I agree with CDC and I think that Winthrop is poised to make a run--an experienced, quality team that hung with Wisconsin at Wisonsin this year only losing by 3, and lost by only 7 in a game that was closer than that at UNC--enough said.

Has anyone heard from our good friend WUEagle since we've been over to the new board?

Does Wintrhop even have a board?

I think Winthrop had a basketball board at one time. I wish WUEagle knew about this board..I may post over at scout.com to have him send me an ez email.

It'll be a wipeout. Go Eagles. May WUEagle and his Rock Hill comrades be very happy campers Saturday! :)

Go Winthrop! I'd also love to see them make a Sweet 16 run, BZ. They run an admirable program.

I told everyone about Winthrop last year and how they would do some damage in the tournament. Only a miracle by Tenn. kept that from happening. This year is the year they break out and win a game or two. Go Eagles!

Thanks guys... I have been looking forward to this game for days. It has been a really fun and exciting season. Truth be told, I can't sleep, too nervous.

PS, any of you guys know where I can score a Gonzaga Morrison jersey? They are impossible to get here..... What do ya say, we can work out a Winthrop for Gonzaga jersey??

It's a place called Collectors Zone. They should be able to help you.

Winthrop is up 37-31 with 4 minutes left.. they look good but boy is VMI fun to watch!

I keep hoping the Eagles will pull away but the Keydets are hangin' tough.

We need Winthrop to win this bid. . .

How did the score go from 84-78 to 84-81 on a VMI layup with no foul?

For making the Big Dance !!

So I'm not crazy.. props to VMI anyways. I thought they played a terrific game and the fact that they could still stand at the end considering their style of play in a tournament is very impressive. Plus, the Holmes twins will be back along with Reggie Williams next year.. if they get in the tournament I could see their style really giving some teams fits.

Winthrop's zone was beginning to remind of Gonzaga....lots of open three pointers in the corner. Thank God Winthrop won. If they hadn't, the NCAA committee would've faced a terrible decision, and I would've had a lot less fun watching the NCAA tournament.

Yeah, it's great that Winthrop is in, but it would have been fun watching VMI, as well. 30 years of not making it in for those guys - played with great heart.

Yeah, VMI would have been a nice story, that's for sure, but I'm glad Winthrop got in. Us power mid-majors have to stick together!
