Zag opponents in action tonight:

Memphis 97 Tulane 71 (@ Tulane) - keeps Memphis at #1
Tennessee 89 Auburn 70 (@ Tenn) - keeps Tennessee at #2
Texas Tech 87 Colorado 69 (@ Colorado) - gives Tech 5 wins in Big 12
Virginia Tech 69 Maryland 65 (@ Maryland) - good road win for VTech
Utah 59 BYU 67 (@ BYU) - @ 0:23 left in 2nd half... tough loss for Utah

Games that have an impact on the Zags' efforts to get back into the Top 25 (currently the Zags are 29 - AP / 30 - ESPN):

Marquette (25 AP/24 ESPN) 73 St. John's 64 - Marquette will remain in Top 25
Miss St. (31 AP/28 ESPN) 63 Mississippi 74 - Tough road loss for Miss St.
Arkansas (29 ESPN) 87 LSU 61 - next game @ Kentukcy (2/23 - Sat.)
Kansas St. (24 AP/25 ESPN) 64 Nebraska 71 - K State should fall from Top 25

The Zags should be on the brink of the Top 25 in both polls next week. I suspect wins against UP and SMC would vault the Zags into the Top 25 in the polls on March 3rd...

The home loss to V-Tech is a huge hurter for the Terps.

Tough loss for the Terps, but a HUGE win for VaTech. They had dropped their last 3 ACC games to N.C. State (away), Miami (home), and UCN (away). This was an important win on the road for VaTech to snap their lossing streak, and now they finish the ACC schedule with 3 of 4 games at home (GT, BC, WFU, @ Clem). If they win their remaining home games they finish 9-7 in the ACC regular season and most likely earn a #4 seed in the ACC tournament. It would be nice to see VaTech as an RPI Top 50 team for Selection Sunday :)
